Some refinements and code cleanup on this new functionality

Is it possible Ring doorbell can play URLs? Would be real fun and cool! I don’t know if it’s possible, Official Ring app doesn’t have this feature. But if it is possible it would be so fun! (Sometimes i’d like the doorbell to answer people ringing the doorbell). Also, a question. Why is there a THEN… card to turn the doorbell on/off and turn the motion sensor on/off?

No, if some functionality is not available in the Official Ring app, you can be sure it’s not possible from third party apps as these are based on reverse engineering, there’s no support nor documentation available from Ring.

The flow cards are there for users that have a desire to turn the motion sensor on/off.

Hmm, thanks! I was asking since Sonos’ official Homey app had few functionalities available, but Sonos Local (community made app) has every functionality. So i was wondering if that worked for Ring aswell.

Well, partly. This Ring Community app also supports more devices and functionality than the ‘official’ app made by Athom, and the same goes for other community apps.

Yeah, i noticed that! I only have the doorbell, so i’m using the official app. Any reasons for me to switch to this app?

I am giving my Homey Pro 2023 to a friend who has a lot of Ring devices, so i will show him this app as the official Ring app doesn’t support contact sensors, keypad and motion sensors.

Well, when your doorbell is working and it provides the functionality you need, there’s no reason to switch to be honest.
It’s when you have more devices and want to use a bit more advanced functions it’s time to switch.

:+1:t2: I will show this app to my friend when he gets the Homey from me though as the official app doesn’t support all his Ring devices.

Also, i see you have 2 Ring apps. What’s actually the difference on them? My friend does have a Ring keypad aswell, but how does it work? Can your Ring app turn it on/off or only do something based on if the alarm is enabled/disabled?

This app integrates all Ring devices from the Ring Cloud an offers (roughly) the same functionality as the Ring Mobile app, but from Homeys perspective.

When using the Ring Security app, a limited number of Ring devices can be connected to Homey over z-wave and thus will only be available in Homey. I made that app to enable the use of a standalone Ring Keypad with my other app Heimdall.

Cool! But are you able to automatically turn the alarm on/off? So they don’t have to arm it? As in Homey can arm/disarm the alarm system from a flow?

Yes, when using this app that’s possible for sure!

Awesome! Then this app will for sure work amazing for my friend! Thanks!
