Ring Doorbell, Camera and Alarm support for Homey

tried this and still no motion, turned everything off and back on and no motion, there are also no motion detections in the log. In the ring app motion detection still works

What’s the ID of the Diagnostics Report?

14254248-e21c-4c32-b5b6-a639d5d4b76f

I see nothing out of the ordinary in the log, last app start was the 15th and everthing initialized ok. Since then I see you’ve looked at the Live Video two times, nothing else in the log.
Did you perform the device cleanup in your Ring account as explained in the FAQ?

I tried this again, removed the authorization from the ring website, removed device from Homey, added the device again and now motions are detected in the log but flows still don’t work, very strange

I did some more testing and when I use the motion detected for 1 second flowcard it works but the regular flowcard doesn’t work for me

Ok, that confirms the notification from Ring is recieved by Homey.
Can you please post screenshots of both flows, the native and the one with the duration?

Can you trigger some motion, do a little dance, in front of your front door and next send me a Diagnostics Report?

Als does a press on the doorbell work?

b765af5d-279c-4385-9520-43482c9fed4d

Press on the doorbell works just fine, must have something to do with a update, as this was working before

I had a virtual switch between the card and the notifcation so I could disable the notification wile working in the garden but I have removed that from the flow to debug but offcourse didn’t help

Can you please check the Advanced Settings of the Doorbell?
Are both Use Motion Detection and Use Motion Alerts set to Yes?

If so, can you toggle both to No, save the settings, set to Yes again and save again?
And after that test the motion for the doorbell again.

Btw, could you please stop and start the app, you’ve deleted the Doorbell and added it again, but somehow the device wasn’t properly deleted.
Also, just to be sure, it wouldn’t hurt to remove the De bewegingsmelder gaat aan flow card from the topmost flow and adding it again (after the restart of the app)

Having the same issues; Worked fine up until recently, and then out of the blue; No motion flows were activated (although motion showed up in the device time line (thus detected). Ringing worked and still works fine. Did the steps as mentioned; No succes.

Also rechecked if in advanced settings both where still on “yes”; They were. Switch them off and back on. No succes. Switched them off, restarted the app (then Use motion detection was back on “yes”?!); Stil no succes.

In between changed out de “motion detected” cards in flows. Also tried that after the switch off and on, and reboot. Haven’t got a clue what went wrong.

-– A few moments later —

Couldn’t handle myself and tried al steps again after this post. Stept outside after that without giving it a thought; It worked again!

Good to see you got it fixed.
Because the Diagnostics Report I received recently for the Motion Alert problem don’t give me a good insight on what’s going on I published a new testversion

Test version: 2.14.20

  • Improved logging for Motion Alerts

On the app this didn’t work for me, but tried again within the web tool on a pc and then this did the trick, the motion flow card works again

Great you got it fixed! Very strange though that it didn’t work in the app and you had to use the webclient, don’t know how that’s possible, but hĂ©, you got it working!
Thanks for reporting back.

Heho,
I am one of the chaps with the movement detection issue.
Went to the testversion as of today, which seems to fix it.

What now?
Should I stay on Text, will it update itself?
Or migrate back to “production” at some point?

Cherrs,
Ralf

If the Release Candidate (RC)-version works for you, then you might as well stay on that version until the stable versions is released. Then update to the stable version (manually). It’s up to you whether you want to continue receiving RC-versions or not (by disabling the Experiental Updates option in the Settings section of the Homey Developer Tools).

Unless you want to actively participate in testing new versions, I would disable Experimental Updates.

In addition you might want to disabe auto-updates of Homey firmware all together (via the Updates section in Settings), and install such updates manually.

This gives you some more time to learn of any issues reported by other users on e.g. this forum and determine whether those would affect your setup.

I think @Ralf_Huelsmann is talking about the test version of the Ring app, not the Homey software.

For now, just use the test software. The next release version will be the same as this testversion, when that’s released you can install it.

Ah yes, that would make more sense . Not sure why I was thinking otherwise.

New version published

Version: 2.14.21

  • Improved power mode detection
  • Code improvements

This version adds better detection of a mains power connection for Ring Doorbell and Ring Cameras so the Live Video feature of Homey can be used with more device variants.
