Homey itself doesn’t support streaming video, only snapshots.
Is there anything I could do to help add support for the outdoor sirene?
I’m trying to add a Ring device (keypad) but logging into my Ring account keeps failing, the account is set up for MFA and I’ve tried both from within the Homey app as well as multiple browsers - no luck. Oh, and logging into the Ring account directly works fine - so, anyone got any hint what to do?
Could you please restart your Homey, wait a bit untill all apps are started and next try to logon in the Ring app. When it fails, please send a Diagnostics Report and inform me.
Hi,
I’m currently working on adding the basestation, progress is slow as there’s no documentation and I have to reverse engineer how it works to be able to control it. When that’s done I’ll move to another device, no ETA however.
Thanks for the quick response @DaneedeKruyff - will try that as soon as I get home and post back here with the result.
Is it true that the test version isnt availble anymore?
Yes, there is currently no publicly available test version, everything that’s ready to use is available in the production version.
Please see the change log:
Restarting solved the issue, logged on to Ring from Homey app without issues, so all good - thabnks again!
Hi all,
In order to enable me to buy additional Ring devices so I can add the to this app I’ve set up a Ko-fi account. When starting integrating the Ring Alarm system into this app I received some message of people wanting to support this and was promised to be sent some devices. However, after releasing the first versions with support for the Contact Sensor and Motion Detector it got all quit .
Seeing the number of Ring devices added trough this app I am truly disappointed seeing how much money is spent on the Ring decices in comparison to the amount of donations I’ve received.
I wondered if this had to do with the fact I only provided a Paypal donation option which led me to also creat a Ko-fi account.
Please understand I don’t require you to make a donation, but it will really help me buy additional devices to add to the app and keep me motivated to keep improving this app.
For everybody,
My idea is to donate 10 euro/wish to get a good running and well maintained Ring App.
Donation is on the way, thank you for all your support here @DaneedeKruyff ! It makes sense you get extra devices and don’t need to mess up with your own setup to debug all weird cases and flows. I hope everyone does a donation, even small ones, as it’s the only way to keep proper Homey support with Ring working
Hi, I have two Ring devices that seem to act the same. But the one on battery does not detect motion in the homey app. The Ring app works as always.
It seems that it stopped picking up motion at December 17, just before the API change?
Motion is activated in settings
Multiple restarts and so on…
Is there any way to force this?
Have you tried removing the device and adding it again?
Try that first please, if that doesn’t help, reboot your Homey, wait a bit and try to trigger motion. After that send me a Diagnostics Report and send me the Report ID.
Removing and adding the authentication did the trick.
In ring there is a motion warning toggle that when enabled speaks the message: hello you are being recorded. Would it be possible to add this toggle as a feature to be turned on and off? Ring doesn’t provide this so you are in a allways on/off state
Hi Joram,
I’m not familiar with this feature and your post confuses me a bit. You say
and later on you say
Please clarify.
Ah sorry for the confusion, I mean ring has no way to schedule to turn this on and off
Ok, so it’s just a scheduling option that’s missing, enabling and disabling it manually is available in the official Ring app?
Could you provide me a screenshot from the Ring app of this setting?
I haven’t seen this feature before, so I’d have to dive into the API again and see if that particular setting is exposed. Not sure when I’ll be able to, finding stuff like this out is pretty time consuming because the API is undocumented and my time is sparse.
