I’ve had a flow which was working fine up until a few weeks ago. Maybe because of an homey-update?
It’s quite simple: ring camera detects a person, yes –> AND sunset is YES –> then Doorlamp ON —> 3 minutes –> then Doorlamp Off.
this worked fine for months, now not anymore. If I test this flow, it still works, doorlamp goes on and off accordingly. Also, when someone passes by, the ring app does send me a push-notification on my phone, so there is no problem there. So it seems that the prompt from Ring is not registered by Homey.
I’ve already deleted and re-installed the Ring-app on Homey, also I connected Homey again to Ring on the Ring-app. I re-created the (advanced) flow also.
I have a similar issue with the Ring doorbell. A flow that is triggered by the doorbell ringing stopped working sometime ago. After some troubleshooting I discovered the issue was with the official Ring app. The community Ring app is working as expected.
I contacted support and they confirmed there is indeed a bug, but they’ve not given a timeframe for a fix. In fact, their “solution” for now was pointing me to the community app.
Perhaps your issue has the same root-cause? So I would recommend reporting it to support. I believe/hope that as more people report the issue, chances of a fix increase.
The “official’ Ring app is just called “official” as it’s developer is a verified developer, Ring does not support anything outside their own (Amazon’s) ecosystem.
I think Athom’s advice to install the community app is valid advice, but hey, who am I
All I can tell you it supports more devices, the source code is for everybody available to look at, and there’s a nice topic where the app is described and support is given:
(The only thing is, my version is not available on Homey Cloud as I’m not a verified developer)
I will try your Ring-app DaneeDeKruyff (wij van wc-eend )
Stil I find it strange that the official Athom Ring-app is bugged for so long. You’d say that Athom would prioritize keeping their own apps running smoothly.
So I tested the community app of DaneeDeKruyff, and it works perfectly fine! Prompts from the camera’s initiate the flows as they are supposed to again.
Furthermore, this community app provides far more possibilities because it includes the Ring-alarm devices (base station, movement- and doorsensors) as well as the camera’s.
All and all I’m very happy to have deleted the official Athom-app, and running this one now.
I had a similar issue with Ring motion triggers in Homey.
In my case, motion detection stopped working in Homey with both Ring apps: the official Athom Ring app and the Ring app by Danee de Kruyff. The Ring cameras still appeared to be online, but Homey did not receive the motion triggers anymore.
What finally solved it for me was restarting each affected Ring camera directly in the official Ring app. After restarting the cameras there, the motion triggers in Homey started working correctly again.
So if Ring motion triggers suddenly stop working in Homey, even with both Ring apps, it may be worth trying this before removing devices, reinstalling the Homey apps, or rebuilding flows.
