We’re the Repenic team, and we’d like to introduce our Smart Toggle, a Zigbee 3.0 wall switch designed to combine the familiar physical feel of a traditional mechanical toggle with smart-home functionality.
One feature that may be particularly interesting for Homey users with Zigbee lighting** is the ability to use the physical toggle as a Zigbee control device, rather than simply cutting power to the connected smart bulb.
Keep Your Smart Bulbs Connected
One of the challenges with smart bulbs is that they need to remain powered in order to stay connected and available for smart-home control.
With a conventional wall switch, turning the switch off also cuts power to the smart bulb. Once the bulb loses power, it is no longer available to Homey, Flows or other automations.
The Repenic Smart Toggle takes a different approach.
The physical toggle can send a Zigbee command while the compatible smart bulb remains powered.
This allows the smart bulb to stay connected to the Zigbee network while users still have a familiar physical wall control.
Zigbee Functionality Built into the Toggle
The Repenic Smart Toggle is a Zigbee 3.0 wall switch that retains the physical movement and tactile click of a traditional mechanical toggle.
It supports:
- Remote Control Mode,allowing the switch to act as a Zigbee control device for compatible devices and automations
- Find & Bind, allowing direct binding with compatible Zigbee devices, including smart bulbs that support Find & Bind
- 1-way, 2-way and multi-way control
- Power monitoring
- Zigbee OTA firmware updates
The switch is designed for 230 V AC / 50 Hz, supports up to 400 W for compatible lighting loads, and is available in 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-gang configurations.
It is available in Brass, Black, White and Steel finishes.
Using Smart Bulbs with a Physical Wall Switch
The idea is to separate power from control.
The smart bulb can remain powered and connected, while the physical wall switch provides a familiar way to control the lighting.
This can be useful for Homey users who want to combine:
- Smart bulbs
- Physical wall switches
- Zigbee control
- Homey Flows
- Smart-home automation
without having the physical switch permanently disconnect the smart bulb from the network.
