Problems connecting Avatto Zigbee dimmer

Recently I bought an Avatte 2ch Zigbee device at bol.com (link: Avatto Zigbee Dimmer module - Universeel - Vloeiend dimmen - Kleinste in de markt -... | bol).

According to the site, it is Tuya compatible, Homey is even mentioned as a compatible gateway. However, when I want to connect it to Homey, I receive the message that it is an ‘Unknown zigbee device’. After that I cannot do anything with it.
Anyone has any idea?

Are you using the test version of the Tuya app?

I do have the app installed on the Homey but using an older version. I will update the app to the latest version 0.2.73 and try again.

Unfortunately that did not fix it. Still getting the same message that the device is not supported (see below screenshot). I tried several versions (1 gang/2gang, with / without metering), all with the same results. Does anyone have an idea?

It means Homey doesn’t support the device.

Apparantly it does not. But since the bol.com website mentiones that homey is supported, I am wondering if anyone else still was able to get the device working.

The Bol shop did not check facts, and made an assumption imho: “Homey has a Tuya Zigbee app, so this device works with Homey”.
It might work when you add a Tuya zigbee bridge, and use the Tuya Cloud community app.
It’s a bit silly though, because it’s a zigbee-over-internet solution

Reality: it works directly with Homey when it’s supported by the Tuya Zigbee app. Even then it’s a 50% chance it isn’t working, while Tuya is very inconsequent.

To end positively: you can request for support, instructions are at the 1st post of the dedicated Tuya Zigbee topic.

Thanks @Peter_Kawa and @robertklep for your answers.
I have requested for support but I am realistic on whether this will get any response. Let see.
Thanks for your help.

How come you don’t think it won’t get a response? It can take a while though.
And who/where did you request for support?
Don’t see your switch listed:

Any update on this topic, managed to get the device added in Homey? Did order a similar device, so will try myself later this week as well.

I do see that zigbee2mqtt does have the device listed (docs Last Updated: 1/8/26, 8:56 PM) AVATTO ZDMS16-2 control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT

And in addition Homey shared news about a “new official supported Tuya app”? Tuya | Homey

Annoyingly, it doesn’t state that the app is only for Tuya WiFi devices.

It isn’t only for WiFi devices, ZigBee devices work fine as long as you have a Tuya gateway

That’s a WiFi device though, isn’t it?

Had in mind that Homey would be using zigbee2mqtt, and thereby would support the ZDMS16-2 device.

But if I understand what you’re all saying, the new app solely provides “full device support” because of it’s gateway functionality? And such gateway presumably has to be cloud-connected to function well? :frowning:

If yes; are there any other 2-channel dimmer modules for sale? That Avatto/Tuya one was the only one I could find.

The Tuya gateway is cloud-dependent, yes. However, I’ve never had issues with Tuya’s cloud in the past 3 years, so it’s very stable.

Am not going to add an extra cloud connected gateway in order to control a Zigbee dimmer. Want my lights to go on when the fire alarm would go off, so will have to look for an alternative 2 channel dimmer wall module. Any other options?
