Homey Pro and Tuya Zigbee

Hi
I just got some new spotlights that has TUYA Zigbee driver inside. I have a hub called TaHoma Switch that is supposed to support Zigbee 3.0 devices, but that did not work. The pairing did not go well and now the questions is if Homey Pro will work with TUYA Zigbee

Can anyone here confirm if this will work ?

Hi,

Zigbee lamps are generally supported with their basic functions:

(Source)

If the lamp has some extra features, then the lamp must be implemented in a Homey app, i.e. in the Homey Tuya Zigbee app.

Please check the corresponding topic to see if your lamp is already supported.
If this is not the case, you can ask the app developer whether he would add the lamp.
However, as this is a private developer, it is possible that he will not or cannot add the lamp for whatever reason.

Thanks for the info, but so did i think with TaHoma Switch, since it also supports Zigbee 3.0, but that did not work. After some troubleshooting with dev-team of TaHoma, they said that the lights do come in as Zigbee Mesh nodes, but other entries that are required like the product itself does not enter into the TaHoma switch. I think he mentioned in order for a device to work it needs 3 stages of entry. Node, The product ID, and the last had something to do with GUI/functionality as you mention.

Am thinking of buying Homey Pro, but wish to be sure before spending 399$ on that. And am also not sure if there is a new version coming up soon, since the Pro Mini is just announced.

You haven’t provided a link to the spotlights, provided no exact name or product ID. So how should it be possible to answer your question if you don’t provide any information? :man_shrugging:
Have you checked the linked topic to see if the spotlights are listed?

In addition, I can only repeat myself. Athom says that Zigbee lights work without a special app. If you don’t trust them, then contact and ask them if the Tuya Zigbee spotlights will work.

Btw, this is a community/user forum and generally no Athom employee is reading along.

Next to Dirk his hints and tips,

Somfy / Tahoma uses zigbee (mainly) for their own products as it seems.
Until today I never heard of Tahoma as zigbee controller.

While zigbee seems to be a standard, it isn’t for 100%.
This is why certain devices won’t work, or won’t work reliable, with certain controllers, and even have difficulties interacting with certain foreign brand’s devices. They all need eachother for the zigbee network they’re part of.

Tuya and Aqara are known to deviate from the standard specs, hoping to lock you in.
I don’t recommend Tuya (whitelabel) with Homey.

Before purchasing stuff, it"s a good idea to post your wish-list on here, to see if anyone encountered problems with it.

Also there’s this “best buy guide”, but it’s not 100% reliable, if these items really work flawless with Homey.

There is a Tahoma/Connexoon app topic, for you to see what Homey supports.

No one knows, and Athom won’t tell.

Thanks for both of you for your feedback. I have got hold of the spesification of the TUYA Zigbee light Driver. What info do we need in order to integrate the lights to the Homey, via the dedicated app ?

Am currently trying to translate the spesification to english, since I got it in
Chinese

No problem. Do you have a link to the product?
I understand you want to make sure.

I have these spotlights with build in tuya zigbee driver

I believe this link wont help mych, so what does the developer need in order to get this integrated?

I can maybe get the info, if i know what to specifically ask for

Even zigbee2mqtt has no record of the brand or the model, meaning it’s pretty unique, or brand new.

But I stumbled upon this supported one!
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/050-0131558M.html

which seems to be the same light.
In case you do request for support, add the above link to the request.

I quote myself again:

In the already linked app topic is everything explained, what to do if you want to integrate a new device.
But again, it should work without any Homey App.
