Plug with metering not measuring 'Energy'

I recently have installed a bunch of Tuya smart power plugs with metering. For all devices they seem to work except for 1, which is a LG oled tv. It does show data for Currwnt, Power Usage and Voltage but not for Energy (flat line at 0.00 kWh). I tried another plug but no difference.

I asked Mr chatgtp :), but not sure of it’s answers could be the reason:

Since other devices do show energy (kWh) measurements with the same Tuya power plugs, but your LG TV does not, the issue likely lies with the TV itself. Here are some possible causes and solutions:

Possible Causes
1.. Standby power consumption is too low

  • Many smart plugs have a minimum threshold (e.g., 1-2W) before they start registering energy consumption.
  • If your TV consumes very little power in standby mode, the plug might not count it in the kWh measurement.
  1. Fluctuating or pulsed power consumption
  • Some TVs (especially OLED and modern LED TVs) have variable power consumption, which sometimes falls below the detection threshold.
  • Check if the kWh value updates when you keep the TV on for a longer period.
  1. Incorrect data reporting by Homey*
  • It’s possible that Homey is not correctly retrieving kWh data for this specific device, even if the smart plug is measuring it.
  • Try checking if the kWh value appears when reading the plug’s data through another integration, such as MQTT or a different Tuya app

Anyone has an idea what may be the reason?

Try to connect a lamp instead of the TV and see what happens.

Could it be the power used is too low to register?
What is the power value showing?

When tv is ON i do see values for power usage. So it is at least measuring something.

When power is 100W it takes 10 hours before energy is at 1 kWh.
So most likely, you have to be patient.

True, that is a fact. Not watching that much every day. But i am just curious how much energy our tv is consuming each month/year. With Homey I can download power usage in CSV format, but it is not detailed enough to extract how much power it did use for a certain period.

You can use the PBTH app for that.
However, did the Energy sensor eventually shown some value?
When downloading from Insights you have to download it every week to have detailed measurements.

@Rmb no values for Energy, only for Current (A), Power usage (W) and Voltage (V)

Should work. The PbtH app can take Watts as fallback input. This way it’s possible to create energy measuring (kWh).
