I have the Philips Hue outdoor sensors in the living room because the sensor has a long detection range.
The sensor also measures the lux data, so that the lights come on when it should during the day.
The only problem is that the sensor gives a red light every so often. This causes the lux measurement to shoot up, because the notification light is in the same unit as the lux meter. By suddenly lighting up the red notification light, the lux measurement also shoots up by an average of 80 lux.
This is very annoying, because it causes the lux to rise above my set limit in terms of lux every so often.
I am almost thinking of opening the sensor and covering the LED that gives the message. But before I do that, does one of you perhaps have a solution?
I have connected the sensor via Hue without bridge.
The strange thing is that the outdoor sensor and the homey pro are in the same room, about 2 meters apart.
How can I find out if my mesh network is not good?
I first connected the sensor via the hue bridge, but there I also saw a red light in the hue outdoor sensor every so often.
I first thought it was due to the hue bridge because the bridge did not have a good connection with the homey pro.
That is why I connected it via the app ‘‘hue without bridge’’, but the same thing happens there.
And what you say, homey does see that lux data, because it is really 1 small peak that then immediately goes back to the normal value.
I do have the idea that there are fewer red errors after connecting to homey directly instead of via the hue bridge.
I just opened the sensor and covered the led with pvc tape.
The led is right under the lux meter,
under the white square is the lux meter.
This must be a design error, because this is not handy at all. Fortunately it can be solved and the data of an empty battery I get a message from in homey instead of the sensor flashing.
As RmB said: you can turn the blink notification off, via the Hue app in configurations.
My sensors also blink when someone walks past the sensor.
After a trigger (something going by the sensor) also the lux maesurement is done.
And is never less than 1 lux.
This means that it does not see the blinking of the led, in my case.
I disabled the led blink notification on movement, but this is not a movement notification. It is a error notification, so i think thats why the red blink is turning on.
Thats my thought, cant find any other setting for the led blink notification instead of the moving notification.
The lux measurement is on a interval as i see.
I have set if the lux is above 50 LX then turn on the lights.
But if the sensor detects movement, once in a while it says cant find the bridge(red blink).
And if it blinks the LX goes up to 80/90, and immedeatly after that it goes to the real LX.
So the lights go on and short after the lights go off, very anoying.
Whether the sensor is paired with Hue bridge or with Homey, wifi 2.4GHz signal can interfere with zigbee networks.
Also close neighbours’ 2.4GHz wifi signal can interfere.
