Performance on the different Hue methods

Its been a while since I used Homey, and trying again with the 2023 version, though since the zigbee module doesnt support updates etc. (strange as every other solution support zigbee update) I was thinking to keep the hue bulbs on the hue box.

Though its 4 options to connect to hue

  1. Via the API (regular app)
  2. Via the native matter support in Hue/Homey
  3. Via Apple HomeKit
  4. Direct via zigbee

Have anyone really tried the different methods and can speak to real life experience in delay and support? For now lets assume I wont do the direct connection with zigbee. Would maybe matter or homekit be a better solution than via the api?

matter is the best way i think. However, when I wanted to try it, there were a few flowcards missing which I did use in the API variant. i don’t know about this at the moment.

Things like scenes and brand-specific features will not be available through Matter (although Athom has stated that they are “looking at” scene support as it’s part of Matter 1.3, but that would also require the Hue hub to support them over Matter).
