Official IKEA Trådfri vs IKEA Trådfri Gateway App

hello, can you add this remote control

Can you do all the functionality or is it limited now?

Are there any plans in the roadmap to add long press for remotes that support it, eg Symfonisk Gen 2?

Hi guys,

A very simple flow:

Sometime it works, sometime it does not, what do I do wrong?

TIA

J.

Not specifying “sometimes” and “does not work”. So maybe you should give some examples when it does or does not work and above all what you mean with “does not work”…

I think you could receive a very expensive bill if you bring your car to the garage with this description…

Well, indeed I was not specific, apologies and thanks for turning my attention to this.

What I meant by “sometimes work sometimes not” is that there are periods of time when my simple flow seems to be executed and the “lights on” action triggered by the motion sensor as well as switching same “lights off after 3 min” work perfectly and there are much longer periods of time when northing happens when I enter the movement detection zone e.g. lights do not go on… It is quite random and I have no clue if this has to do with the “lag” between ikea devices and Homey or I am setting up my flow wrong… I have also tried to trigger same “lights on” action with tapo c200 camera working as movement detector - same poor result. I have in the meantime tried with another power supply for my Homey as well as some shorter usb cable, no positive results. Eventually switched the ikea sensor + ikea socket that controls the lights back to ikea system from homey and it works flawlessly…

I am very new to Homey and such things confuse quite a bit…

Many thanks for any advice if possible.

Best, J.

You could add a timeline entry or a notification to yourself in the “then” section. That way you will be notified if the flow has started. If you don’t get the notification on entering the detection zone then you know there is no motion detected. If you get the notification and the light does not switch on then you know it is triggered but there is obviously something wrong turning on the bed lights…

Will try that. Good idea. Thanks.

I have purchased the Tradfri Zigbee repeater. The App says it supports that device but I’m a bit confused on how to set it up. It looks like it comes with a power supply and a plug in component which is actually the repeater, although it doesn’t really say as much.
Do you need to pair the repeater to Homey?
The instructions talk about a steering device and pairing that to the repeater? So do you need to pair any Tradfri device I.e. a Somrig button, that you want to extend the range of with the repeater?

Yes.

Those are the instructions when you use them in an IKEA-only setup, not in a Homey setup.

Thanks Robert.

Hi all,

I’m using an IKEA Tretåkt smart plug, which works fine in Homey. However, when I manually toggle it with the button on the device, the status doesn’t update in Homey. Is this a known issue? Any tips on how to sync the status after manual control?

The official app seems like a buggy early alpha.

When turned off at the physical switch, all my ikea lights show as on - which is false.

Why default / stick to the on state when the device is off??

This prevents me from setting up flows for these devices.

This also makes the energy tracking in homey completely unusable.

Any way to update this to a version that actually works?

Homey support has ignored me for more than 2 weeks now and I am considering returning the homey entirely.

I guess if this is your first post, maybe you should have asked for 3 weeks ago. Or indeed return the product.

I have no Idea, you are the first to mention this as it works fine here.

NEVER switch off with a physical switch, that is not how a smart Light works!

Did you know it can’t transmit information to the controller that it doesn’t have power without having power?

just my 2 ct.

That’s a quick response.

I have just prepped the homey pro for a swift return to the vendor and will be spinning up home assistant again, where none of the points I made are an issue.

Turning of smart bulbs at the switch has indeed been a normal use case for all the bulbs I have used the last decade

I run HA as well, excellent stuff, but cutting the power from any smart light does not change the status to off, it stays “on”, just like with Homey.

So I’m curious hoe you got that programmed into HA?

Like Dijker already said: when you cut the power from a smart device, no way it can send it’s status anymore.
The only thing happening after time-out is the “unavailable” state.
