Nuki, does it interface directly with Homey or does it use an external cloud server to do so?

I was reading up on smart locks and I came across Nuki, which I quite like, especially since the newer ones are smaller and also support thread. However, the Homey app directory has the connection technology listed as “cloud”. Am I to assume that the Nuki lock does not talk directly to Homey and only interfaces with it through an online API? Or is this wrong/outdated and does the lock directly connect with Homey after all (whether that is through thread or wifi I don’t mind, yet I would prefer Thread, if possible).

I once already made that mistake by buying a Wiz lamp which has that issue (It is a good lamp and works quite well, I would just like to avoid more cloud based computation that doesn’t work when the internet is out as much as possible)

If you connect the Nuki Smartlock via Thread, Wi-Fi, or MQTT (supported by Nuki 3.0 Pro, for example), it will be connected locally to Homey.
However, it could be possible that not all functions are supported via these protocols. I am unable to make any reliable comments on this, sorry.

I’ve a Nuki (non Pro) 4th gen, connected per Matter-over-Thread (to H.A.) → No Nuki Hub or cloud stuff.

Which functionality it will have @ Homey depends, just like Dirk said.
All Athom says about lock functionality is “Locks” :man_shrugging: :
