Next Homey Pro hardware version (v.3)

Just some questions an thoughts for Athom.
I’ll be moving from eedomus flawless Z-Wave to a new controller with Matter over Thread. Any news about the dates for the next Homey Pro? I find it awesome (and expensive) and I was about to buy one but having to spend an extra 30€ for the Ethernet adapter is a big no. I don’t like the way it’s solved (more unaligned cables). The MINI version is great too, but as I have 20ish Z-Wave devices it’s no use for me.
The first Homey Pro came out in 2013 and v.2 in 2019 (six years). C’mon its 2025, what are you waiting, Athom? Just announce the new specs. For the hype.

Current Homey Pro is 2023, the black puck. 2016 and 2019 are the older original white balls.

You didn’t yet take a look at https://homey.app as it seems
I’m also curious where you found that info about the older models, not mentioning the existence of the 2023 model :face_with_peeking_eye::wink:

The idea is you throw in a €70 Homey bridge to add z-wave and other radios :face_with_peeking_eye:

BUT then you’ll end up with a z-wave-over-wifi Frankenstein protocol (the bridge hasn’t got an ethernet connection), not sure if someone is into that construction (when not needing to cover longer distances)

It’s a 50 sqm apartment. Really? 2 devices for such a small space?
So you’re telling that someone designed and built a home controller without ethernet on 2023?
Homey has every connection technology for home automation but lacks the most important and reliable one, a f-cable! :woman_facepalming:
:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

How much did you pay for eedomus? Eedomus is not exactly cheap and if you take into account the limited number of radio protocols, then it is more expensive than a Homey Pro 2023… Why do you want to change?

I can highly recommend the Homey Pro 2023, it’s a cool thing and fun

It was expensive 10 years ago when I bought it but I have like 4 times that cost in Z-Wave modules. Eedomus doesn’t have Matter compatibility not even with a dongle, and the Eedomus staff don’t answer any emails.
The Zipato controller was about the same price and Fibaro was double.
Google is the main responsible of my home automation problems. I had a Nest Learning Thermostat. A masterpiece of design and functionality. Google bought the company and, in october or so the device will be a brick. A beautiful brick.
Google offered a discount for a Tado Thermostat, so I checked the compatibility with eedomus and bought it.
But eedomus is compatible with the previous version of Tado, not with the Tado X, so I can still use Tado via TadoApp but not to create scenes or rules based on room temperatures.
I’m a bit sick of eedomus. It’s an extremely powerful controller, but the developer (now I doubt there are more than one) abandoned it or is unable to add every new device to the annual firmware upgrade.

I think I’ll wait for the new hardware version v.4 of the Home Pro, hopefully with built in ethernet AND Z-Wave but I’m afraid maybe Athom decides to save some euros removing Z-Wave antennas, like they did with the Mini.

I still have my first Homey more than 10 years old. :face_with_peeking_eye::hugs:

They decided to remove Z-wave from the mini because the primary market for that product is North America. In North America Z-wave is a less used protocol, they stated.

And a new hardware version: you probably have to wait an other two or three years, ik expect.
