I’m sitting with a early 2016 Homey Pro that still does it’s work. Changed power supply twise but other than that it works(mostly)…
Iv been sticking to it since iv been using remote recorded 433 links, and as that is supported by Homey itself now it’s the time to maybe upgrade… And secure that it works for next several years .
But don’t want to buy a Pro 2023 when it’s 2025, should soon be some updated HW versions comming shouldn’t it?
What are the planes or release rate of new Pro versions… It was 2016, 2019, 2023 before right?
I understand I won’t get an official answer until release, but what are the thoughts and guesses of the forum?
There is not currently any information available, as far as I know, on if and when the next Homey Pro will be released. I don’t expect a new model before 2026/2027 (if any) if you you look at the prior release schedule.
Yeah, this years’ “new” model is the Pro mini. In my opinion it’s not a new model, but a stripped Pro 2023 version sharing the firmware version; but extended with, finally, an onboard ethernet connection.
I expect a new Pro in about two years from now, but it’s really a glass bowl exercise here.
This is just guessing and my own opinion, but the 2023 pro model was for me “stable” in early 2024. I think they focus now more on development for the moment than a new hardware platform. So my guess is that there will be no new “pro” model before 2028.
Unless there are any significant changes in connectivity protocols then I don’t think there will be a need to release a new Homey any time soon.
The Homey pro 2023 handles WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter and Thread, oh and it has an IR blaster too. And so I don’t think there will be a need for new hardware unless a new protocol is released that requires different transponder to what is included on the 2023.
I think now the focus in smartphones will all be on software, and hopefully Homey will be piling their resources into improving the user experience and making more devices more readily available, and trying to catch up to Home Assistant.
