Perhaps an interesting new device for plant care: Elho introduces a new sensor based on wifi.
Of course there’s no Homey app (yet?), but it might be interesting now that the Xiaomi not working great, because if the poor Bluetooth implementation of Homey.
Price seems friendly too: 39,99 euro.
Senses moisture, light, nutrition and temperature and has a rechargeable battery that lasts 4-6 months according to Elho.
Updates are every 24h or faster when a large change is detected.
Unfortunately the information on the Elho site is in Dutch only (please use Google Translate or Deepl i.e.):
I saw that too—it wouldn’t be surprising if it’s actually a white-labeled Xiaomi sensor. I’ll have a look if I can get in touch with someone at Elho.
On another note, I recently got my hands on some sensors from Fyta, and they’re fantastic! There’s already a Homey app for them, which will soon be officially available as well!
I know that the Tuya Zigbee App supports Soil Sensors, but I didn’t check if these from Ali are also supported. But I guess @johan_bendz is able to add them to the app, if they aren’t supported yet.
I know, but I would expect an Elho sensor has a better support (i.e. in terms of plants catalogue) than a Tuya sensor from Ali. Elho specializes in plant products (mostly plant pots)
And @Doekse wrote it could be a Xiaomi plant sensor, but Xiaomi doesn’t have a wifi version, as far as I know.
So curious, because a Xiaomi would do as well. The Bluetooth ones always worked well here on my HP19.
Yes, they might have restricted the # of events it sends, but I couldn’t find that info.
It’s possible doesn’t send every little change, but bundled updates N times a day
But that’s all assumptions
The FAQ on the Elho site tells us this (translated by Deepl):
How often do I get updates on my Pebble?
Regular updates: The Pebble provides updates every 24 hours.
Instant update: For an instant update, hold down the button for 1 second. After about 10 seconds, you will see an update in the app. You can also pull down the screen to refresh.
Additional updates: If the Pebble detects a significant rise in the water level (for example, after watering the plant), it provides an additional update within an hour.
Troubleshooting: If you have not received an update for more than 24 hours:
Press the button for a manual update. If successful, daily updates will resume.
Check that your Wi-Fi is working.
Check that your Pebble is charged.
Check that the Pebble is still paired with the PBX.
Check that the Wi-Fi settings have not been changed.
Re-pair the Smart Pebble by connecting to your Wi-Fi network in the Smart Pebble settings.
If problems persist, try deleting the Pebble from “My Pebbles” and re-pairing.
