That’s actually a separate issue. Starting with ESPHome version 2025.10, something changed in how authentication works on the ESPHome side. Because of that, the entire device fails to connect. Lex is currently looking into it.
HI doekse, is there any update on this?
I buy from brands on homey’s best buy guide to ensure compatibility. I strongly believed in the stability and ease of setup of the homey platform but the fact issues like this take so long to fix compared to home assistant where it does work is getting a bit frustrating especially when you spend a lot of money on it.
I don’t follow you with that comparison. On HA it’s ESPhome, part of the Open Home Fundation, controlling ESPhome devices.
It would be very odd if they didn’t make it work right away ![]()
Peter,
Sure there will be differences, i’m not disputing that, i’m fully incorporated in the Homey platform for a reason. My remark is more in line with the fact even if you follow the best buy guide, the contingency for these product should be a priority to ensure continuity. It’s not the first time i come into a situation like this and it quite often takes some time for it to be updated / fixed / …
Reliability for the products you choose (hence the best buy guide) is a critical factor for the success of a platform and therefor i limit myself to only buying from partners where Homey clearly works together with.
With kind regards,
Z
Thank you for your patience! We are still actively working on this and waiting to implement the fix when it’s live.
Best,
Justin
Question, how did you manage to set a presence time of 20 sec.? I can only see a “normal” motion sensor “is on” like the screenshot from Matteo_Foroni above.
So how would be a rule like “if the presense it “off” for x sec do y”
thx
I have added the SwitchBot presence sensor to the SwitchBot app and it’s working great.
Yes it does need a hub, but I don’t see a problem with that. At some point I will look into the BLE connection, but with Homey’s BLE setup I’m not convinced it’s worth it as it works so well via the hub.
Please try the latest test version of the app and let us know if you have any issues.
I have the Everything Presence Lite and it’s working great!
Really rapid execution.
I can not get the EPL to connect to Homey Pro. I keep getting a Connection failed: Handshake failed: Timeout waiting for ‘connect’. The device works great in Home Assistant but I thought I would try it in Homey. Did it work right away for you ?
It’s also ESPHome based and is probably affected by the same issue as our devices.
Worked immediately.
I am running Homey self hosted
It works now, thank you for the fix and good follow up!
Happy to hear! Thanks again for your support and don’t hesitate to reach out here or on our Discord if you need anything.
Best,
Justin
Hi, I tried to add a Lafaër presence sensor to my Homey Pro, as it was appearing in the list of devices that can be added, only to get an error message. Apparently the sensor is not only supporting Matter over Thread, it is the only way it can communicate and therefore incompatible with my Homey Pro early 2019 version.
So I am now looking at the Switchbot sensor, that seems comparable, but it is not clear to me whether it can be connected to my Homey Pro version 2019 using the BLE connection, not relying on the Matter/Thread communication. Is this possible and if so, did anyone try this?
PS I already requested Athom to do not show devices in the ¨add devices¨ menu that are not compatible. In the same line, I would like to request the moderator of this topic (and probably a lot of other topics as well) to be very clear to which Homey Pro version the discussion applies. My ¨antique¨ Homey Pro works fine, so I am not intending to replace it.
Hi Justin,
First of all a happy Newyear!
I just want to inform you that with the new appversion the AIR-1 is behaving quite unstable. It often loses connection and controlling the LED doesn’t work properly.
For the loss of connection if i clean the sensor this often re-establishes the connection. Replugging the power quite often means i have to clean the sensor for it to start working again.
I got 2x MSR-2, and I’ve set up one so I can manage the lights in my office. After a bit of tinkering and mentally translating what works for HomeAssistant, I managed to create an Adv. Flow to turn off lights and turn them on with a Mood.
This is my first “sophisticated” smart home setup, and it’s fun so far.
Thanks for your support, but sorry for the trouble!
Are you on the latest 2.0 version of our Apollo app?
Best,
Justin
Woohoo! Happy to hear that! Can you share your flow?
Best,
Justin
