Migration from HomeyPro early 2019 to early 2026

Hi Community, I want to update my HomeyPro early 2019 to the latest version early 2026. Before I start I want to make sure I don’t run into issues. Has any one experience to share? Things like checklist, look after etc.. I run 80% z-wave devices and the rest is WIFI. and 3 Zigbees All Apps are available and running on 2026. I have also removed all dead nodes already. Will do an Backup before installing. Looking forward to your responses.

Did it, only I don’t use z-wave, and zigbee is running on zigbee2mqtt.

  1. Make sure to first factory reset the Pro 26
  2. In case you didn’t fix the 2.4GHz wifi channel to either 1 or 6 or 11, do it now
→ Because resetting zigbee causes Homey to find & select a quiet channel for zigbee (which is useless when 2.4GHz wifi is on auto-channel)
  3. Reset Pro 26 zigbee network 1 to 4 times (4 times? ? Well, only after 4 resets I was able to pair zigbee devices).
  4. Turn off Pro 19 when you didn’t already
→ In case you want to re-use it, without factory resetting it, FIRST → delete all z-wave & zigbee devices ←
  5. Restore the Pro 19 cloud backup to the Pro26 (there’s some generic cloud backup issues atm, expect failures for now)
  6. Expected issues:
  • None for wifi connected devices, when you alr use reserved IP addresses
  • Afaik only zigbee can need manual re-pairing with bigger mesh networks.
    And again:
Don’t run both Homeys at the same time, as long as the 2019 still has non-removed z-wave & zigbee devices on board.
  1. My preference: create an USB offline backup when all seems to run as expected.
In this case you’ll have a “new Homey” backup to return to, in case of troubles or additional needed factory resets.

Hi Peter, thank you for the fast feedback. I will connect the2026 by LAN Cable. Will check the channel aswell

One other question: is it possible to set up the new Homey in advance at a different location before moving it to its final place?

Ideally, I’d like the final switch to be as simple as turning off the Homey Pro 2019 and plugging in the Homey Pro 2026.

YW!

That shouldn’t be a problem, as long as it’s really out of range of any of the z-wave & zigbee devices.

I have another homey with an other name in that location. But I think when I restore the settings from A in location B that should be no problem. Or what do yuo think. I have recieve my new Homeypro today so the weekend I will start. THX for your support.

That should be allright. As long as location B is +1000 meters away

And YW!
