Looking for a reliable, powered temperature sensor

Hey everyone,

I have a question regarding a temperature sensor. In our European office, we use Homey to automate various systems, including lighting, showroom heating, and our SONOS speakers.

My main focus right now is optimizing our energy consumption, and for that, I need a temperature and humidity sensor that:

  • Is suitable for outdoor use
  • Does not run on a battery
  • Connects via WiFi or Ethernet

I’ve already searched online and through this forum, but I’m having trouble finding a suitable option. Does anyone here have recommendations or experience with a reliable sensor that fits these requirements?

Thanks in advance!

I was/am looking for the same : Outdoor temperatuur, netvoeding, geen internet (Sorry, it’s Dutch).

But basicly i’m thinking of either a shelly plus uni with a Ds18b20 sensor or a Ventus W830 weatherstation…

Since we’re based in the Netherlands, I’m Dutch as well. So no language barriers here!

The Ventus W830 looks like a very impressive product, but I noticed it isn’t compatible with Homey. Does this mean we’d have to use an API to retrieve data from the device? I saw a discussion about this on the forum here: Ambient Weather Station Discussion.

The Shelly solution also sounds interesting, though I have to admit my technical knowledge stops there.

We’re planning to equip our warehouses with sensors (see: Airthings View Plus), but unfortunately they don’t offer an outdoor sensor option.

I’dd probly go for the shelly, it meets my most important requirement : no battery…

Installation doesn’t seem to be thát difficult. Just 2 times 2 wires…
