As I understand it, it is currently not possible to see the energy usage of my lights in the Energy tab. I do have the estimated power consumption configured for all of my Hue lights, so it’s a shame that this information isn’t being used. I realize these values are only estimates and not actual measurements, but they would still provide a reasonable approximation.
Personally, I would love to see the estimated energy usage of my light fixtures included in the Energy tab. It would provide more insight into their overall consumption and would also motivate me to create more efficient lighting automations.
Does anyone else feel the same? Would you find it useful if Homey used the configured estimated power values for lights in the Energy tab, even if they are only approximations? I’d be interested to hear how many people would like to see this as a feature, before I submit a feature request.
I can see the estimated powerconsumption of my Hue-lights in the hall in the energy tab. So I guess you want to see the total powerconsumption of all your lights.
You could divide your home in two subzones: ‘lights’ and ‘other devices’. And have in both subzones the usual subzones: ‘livingroom’, ‘bedroom’ etc.
The Energy tab has an overview of top consumers. That overview indeed does not include devices without actual power measurement capabilities.
So devices for which an estimated power usage can be configured, but don’t have actual power measurement capabilities, are currently not included in the top consumers overview.
@smarthomesven and @Wim_Post thanks for your replies. I actually forgot this energy tile was available. It’s useful for seeing the live usage.
But like @SunBeech mentioned I was indeed talking about the energy tab on the newer versions. Seeing the usage in their would enable to see totals for specific days, weeks, months.
That’s correct. We currently don’t display estimated values in Homey Energy, as they can muddy the overview and make your energy data less reliable. Instead, Homey Energy only shows actual measured values from smart plugs or devices that report their own power consumption.
