Hi
I recently asked the developers of the Plejd app to add energy capability for their devices.
All the Plejd devices have advanced settings “Power usage when on” / “Power usage when off” which is great for devices that don’t measure themselves but the load is so static that the power can be estimated instead. This way I can get power usage from these devices. But since they do not have energy capability (kwh) the devices don’t show in the new energy tab of Homey. I think this would be easily done, but the developers of the Plejd app say this is up to Homey, they cannot do this.
So, help Athom Homey developers, can you add this?
Exactly, Plejd can’t make up energy data from that.
To actually record the real power + energy,
you’ll need to add a power measuring device to those devices, like measuring power plugs.
When a machine, like, CTR-01, doesn’t provide for electricity values, the Plejd app developers can’t add those to the app.
Do those devices show energy values in their respective phone apps?
Ah, I’ve used it before, but let me get you correct, you mean to create a “virtual device” for each of my devices with manual power settings that accumulate the energy (power over time)? I guess that is possible but I have over 20 devices which will be cluttered and difficult to maintain. I mean, Athom/@Emile could implement this right? If a device have a capability of power (which I believe is automatically created for these type of devices) it should also be able to calculate the energy.
This is the Homey app documentation of what I’m talking about:
In cases where devices do not support measure_power real-time energy usage in Watts, there are a few options to approximate the device’s energy consumption. Homey can calculate the energy usage based on the onoff and dim capabilities when there is no measure_power capability available. Homey will provide the user with settings to configure the energy consumption when the device is turned on, turned off, or (when a device can’t be turned on or off) its constant energy consumption. Using these settings Homey approximates the energy usage by calculating the total on-time, optionally taking into account the brightness level.
This is not fully true however, a bit confusing, it does not calculate the energy (that is what I’m asking for), it calculates the power usage.
This setting is provided to devices that do not have the measure_power capability and do have the onoff capability. The default value for this setting can be determined by the driver (see Constant usage). It will be used to approximate the device’s energy consumption.

Yes, I agree, this would be very welcome!
Here’s why for me:
When the Innr SP-120 were discontinued I ordered a bunch of SP-220’s for which I found out to late they don’t support power measurements so they don’t show in the Energy dashboard.
What I do is, for devices which have a static power usage, I first connect them to an SP-120 to determine the usage. After that, I replace them with an SP-220 in which I enter the Power usage when on with the determined value.
It don’t see why Athom can’t make it so my Homey calculates the energie usage based upon the entered value and the time the device is switched on and write that to a capability, I really don’t want to add an additional app and additional device for that.
I too don’t understand why this is not represented in the Energy tab. What is the point of setting the power consumption of a device if I can’t use this info anywhere ?
I hope it will be implemented soon.
