šŸš€ In the Zone — Introducing Homey Portal

Well, if the first batch is already sold out, they can go into production. Then we (who placed a pre-order) will have them soon.

@Emile mentioned in the Homey Portal podcast that shipping of the first batch is planned before December and maybe earlier.

@SunBeech I’m pretty sure I’ve seen you here on this forum for a longer time, you should now better than believing projected delivery dates by Athom!:joy:

I deliberately used planned in my response. Plans can change….

Maybe I should have said SoonTM ?

I wouldn’t be surprised if they waited to start production until the entire batch was sold. I think the introductory price is because Homey was able to purchase RAM and Flash for the first batch at a ā€œgoodā€ price, and prices are higher now. If everyone stops using AI, prices will plummet.

Next week is before December.

ā€˜just’ about perfect for me - if there would also be an accessoire as a battery speaker zo I can take it into my garden and/or place it on my salon-table in the middle of my living (where I don’t have a wall-plug available)

Don’t know if this would be possible, but what about a 3D printed base with QI to usb-c, with a mechanism so it could stand on a table, but also wall mounted (magnetic) and strategically mounted QI chargers around the house…

Looks nice, couldn’t resist, and have one from the first batch. Let it come

not for me

Personally, I’m sticking with Soonā„¢

Seriously, we set ourselves some tight deadlines and are doing everything in our power to meet them.

We have started production for batch 1 and purchasing for batch 2. Some components have crazy lead times at the moment.

Personally, I would rather see that you take your time to deliver a quality product, instead of rushing it to the market and thereby having to cut corners. Better to wait a little longer than being dissatisfied due to quality issues.

Yeah same here unfortunately. I was quite surprised by the release of the Portal, but with that high price I needed some time to consider. And now apparently I have to pay a ā€œfineā€ of 50 euro if I want to order it. No thanks, too bad.

I feel thesame.

An introduction price thats only valid for 2 days is weird. I never saw a disclaimer about limited stock or something.

But Athom is a business, and they’re free to do as they please. That’s fine, but I’m more likely to win the lottery than buy a Portal.

It wasn’t limited to an amount of days, simply until the first batch was sold out, as mentioned in the newsletter and om the product page. And it went fast.

How many units were in the first batch?

@Doekse will the Portal show grouped devices rather than the individual devices from those groups? I couldn’t get that clear from the videos.

I have place an order on triple pack

@Doekse when is the shipping starts to customers?

Think this is not for me.

Its big … my apple watch can handle 2 days with more sensors in a wrist device.

Portal is so big that i think it should have had a battery pack. With this size it should be battery powered for at least 3 to 4 weeks.

Or perhaps a battery in the stand with wireless charging the portal when ā€œdockedā€ or something

I am not dealing with a power cord for €299 in the year 2026 unfortunately . If it had good battery life it was a buy. I will not damage my wall to get a power cord out of the way in 2026

This should stand freely on a table or something

Hardly any sensors .. few electronics just communicating with homey . I expect athom to do better then this for that price point. A wire is soooo 2025

Please read the prior messages in this thread on the planned delivery.
