Iâm asking what do all of these features MEAN and HOW can we make use of them as users.
Itâs quite a common tradition that most other companies either put out official documentation or they work with influencers or ambassadors to create content to EXPLAIN use cases to consumers.
A long list of supposed âAdds support forâ with no other context.
I havenât said a word about beta testing and I havenât complained about when these updates are pushed to users and/or developers and/or beta testers.
you need a Matter connected Light, if it has a option for a âtransition timeâ after this update to Homey Pro also can support this. Maybe you need to re-pair the device, it could be depending on the brand.
Pls wait until Athom communicates it also in a newsletter / blog. usually here: https://homey.app/en-us/news/ and 1 day later in a email update.
But feel free to check your Matter devices for new capabilities and functions, if they have native support for it you can be surprised it appears in the Device or in new Flow cards.
Two months ago, I successfully set up my Nanoleaf A19 and B30 Matter Thread bulbs, and they were functioning perfectly. However, after an update at 3:00 AM Pacific Time this morning, all of my devices stopped working entirely.
Dijker Iâve spent over two hours troubleshooting without success, including restarting my Homey Pro hub and resetting my entire network. Iâm frustrated because every Matter update seems to disrupt my devices, despite Matterâs promise of seamless compatibility and self-repairing functionality.
Affected devices:
Nanoleaf A19 Matter Thread Bulb
Nanoleaf B30 Matter Thread Bulb
Went to go check about Matter in the Homey app and get this error about âError verifying Thread credentrials: 44000: PERMISSION_DENIEDâ. My Matter network is ONLY on my Homey Pro.
@VipeNess no need to tag me, I am not an Athom developer. @VipeNess tagging people here is annoying, you ask the community or just wait. Sentences. Do. Not. Need. Dots. As. Separators.
All of this functions are quite detailed, and most likely only understandable when you have such a device working and are aware of the functions of the device and involved in discussions on missing or non-working functions. If not, you will starting using this functions unnoticed when you introduce a new device in your home .
This morning everything was fine until homey gone offline. I didnât touch it for approx 10min and then impossible to turn it ON, i have red blinking LED. So I try to update firmware manually.
Maybe i powered it OFF too soon and it was updating firmware, or the update made my homey crash.
After manual update firmware it seems to be working normally
A new firmware update for Homey Pro and Homey Pro mini brings improved Matter support, with refinements for lighting, thermostats, blinds, locks, and more. It also adds new Flow cards for buttons and switches, along with fixes to keep your smart home running smoothly.
Update to v12.7.0 to benefit from these improvements. In the Homey app, just go to More (âŚ) â Settings â Updates to check your version.
But to explain it more, I fully agree to the explanation of Rmb
Did you have a specific feature you didnât understand and couldnât find after updating the Homey Pro and Mobile App to the latest stable version?
To address your concern regarding my message about not understanding that you were an employee of the company, let me explain how I reached that conclusion. Your Gravatar displays the Homey company logo, and the shield icon next to your screen name could suggest to users on this community forum, hosted on a company domain controlled by Homey, that you are an official Homey employee. This could cause confusion for customers, like myself, who visit the forum seeking assistance or sharing information, as they may assume you represent the company in an official capacity. To prevent such misunderstandings, maybe adding a thread signature or profile note clearly stating that you are not affiliated with Homey; something that Iâve seen on other forums like Hubitat and many others.
As noted in my initial post, I expressed my frustration then I had tagged you, as I would on any typical forum, community, social media, or professional work environment, in hopes of receiving guidance, as I would with any support service. Keep in mind that navigating the forum and help sections has been challenging in the past and still is. Despite my efforts to find answers independently, Iâve struggled to locate the information I needed, which led me to this thread, and everything from that point is history.
After some time, I did reach out to support following an exhaustive search through these forums and online resources. My frustration stems from the time and effort spent trying to investigate, research, and resolve the issue.
As for the support ticket, as mentioned, I had already opened one and have referred directly to this thread for further investigation by the official Homey team.
IMHO youâre the only lazy one. You want an in-depth explanation of every new software feature and bug fix? Good luck, thatâs not how software development works. Never has. I am in no way an expert, but I understand every line of the changelog. Itâs clear and concise.
Also, know you smarthome or donât. Thatâs up to you. No one has the time or money to write a guide for all quadrillion integrations. Do your own research. Donât be lazy and think for 250 bucks you get hardware and software, including updates, plus a âfor dummiesâ-book for every changelog.
Reminder: You asked for other peopleâs opinions.
âYou want an in-depth explanation of every new software feature and bug fix?â
Thatâs not what Iâm saying at all, but thanks for sharing your condescending opinion.
This is a pretty extensive update with a lot of new functionality being added for (some) Matter devices and it was enough to warrant sending out a user wide newsletter, but was accompanied with no other documentation or content.
Adds support for configuring the on/off transition time.
Adds support for configuring the on/off state after a device has lost power.
No mention of device types in these two lines, but in other lines there are clear device types. Does this affect lights, plugs etc???
I own around 20 different matter device types and I have checked all of them and I am still none the wiser on where and how I should be looking. Can this be found in flow cards or using logic etc?
Iâm asking for the most basic bit of context and the rest I can work out for myself, as I have already watched the pretty extensive Homey for dummies video tutorials elsewhere.
You reap what you sow. Just re-read your answers to some help suggestions above.
To the rest of your post: How should Homey know which devices support these features? Matter support of different brands is a mess. You do know now they support the feature if your device supports it. Keeping track of every change (software updates, etc) for every hardware sold would require several full-time employees and is simply not feasible. Iâm down for giving Athom shit in many other areas, but not here.
Iâd check in device settings to configure those specific two. Since I donât have any native matter lights, I canât double check but flows / logic doesnât make sense as its a per-device setting (how long should the lamp transition every time? What is the default fall-back after losing power?). Just one device type would only make sense for transition time (lamps) as on/off state could be useful for plugs as well. You could check the Matter specs as to which device types support this feature (see https://csa-iot.org/developer-resource/specifications-download-request/ â down right so I canât check for you).
See, if you ask specific questions and donât just rant, you can get help.
