Ikea movement sensor not working

Hello,
I have installed the new Homey PRO just last week. So I am kind of a freshmen.

But I am running in to some problems.
I have the Valthorn senso from Ikea and it does not react as it used to do with Ikea Dirigera. Lights (under bed led strip when going to the toilet in the middle of the night) are not turning on when expected. Sensor stays activated for a very long time. Led not turning on.
Also tried activating an automation with Homekit (Homekitty) but also not working.

Tried searching the topics, but could not find a good solution.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Hi
The Valthorn has a build-in delay specified in the advanced settings (see screenshot). Mine is set to 10sec.
This is the amount of time the signal remains active after the last movement

“Helderheid wordt minder dan 300 lx” is something that only happens once when it gets dark in your room.

So the upper part of your flow will only happen once.

You need to reverse it:

“Wanneer beweging is gedetecteerd” en dan “Helderheid minder dan 300 lx” dan ….

Duidelijk. Nu aangepast

Zou dit kunnen werken?

Is at 20sec. tried to change but giving connection errors.

battery 100% and applied the maintenance to reconnect. Still no connection.

Despite detecting motion (even ater 202sec)

I assume this is a battery powered device. You need to wake up such devices just before you save changes, via the physical button on the device. Otherwise it will be asleep and does not respond.

When motion is detected, and the sensor went offline before it could report “no motion”, the motion detected flag usually stays up.
In fact it’s the last known state reported by the sensor, not an “sensor still works” indicator.

Probably it’s on the edge of the mesh network range.
Add (a) 230V powered zigbee / Thread device(s) to Homey in between Homey.

Oh, these sensors don’t function properly with normal batteries. You have to use rechargeable ones

I have rechargeable batteries. Ikea.

But still have issues. Tried several Flows, but still not stable. Switches on whenever he wants.
Now created this flow and see if it is working tonight.

I see other people have issues as well with Ikea and even re-installed their Dirigera. But that is what I would like to prevent

What motion sensor are you using? And you could try connecting it directly to Homey in stead of using the Dirigera hub.

Consider the following:

  • at 21:10 the motion sensor triggers, the light is turned on, and a 3 minute timer is started
  • at 21:12 the motion sensor triggers again, light is still on, and another 3 minute timer is started
  • at 21:13 the first 3 minute timer expires, so the lights are turned off
  • at 21:15 the second 3 minute timer expires, the lights are still off

You need to use zone activity cards, or apps like Chronograph, to handle this properly.

I use the Ikea motion sensor. 2 different kinds, one old done new.

Both are directly connected with the Homey Pro as Dirigera has been shut down (for now).

Let me try that and come back to you

@robertklep Would this work?

No, that’s basically the same flow. You need to use this card to turn off the lights:

You can set the number of minutes it should be inactive (3 in your case), then followed by a Turn Off The Light card.

Or use an app that provides resettable timers.

@robertklep So you mean like this (I am new to Homey )

Yes, that looks fine.

Instead of the “Een apparaat van type Sensor … is aangezet” you can also use the “The zone became active” card.

@robertklep I wil test it, but still have some doubts.
The sensor stays active for a very long time, despite the fact that I set the reset delay at 1 sec.

Seems that the sensor is not reacting when I want to. It is connected, but guess it looses its connection bow and then.

I also have issues with an Ikea remote that is connected, but does not turn off my lights when pressed.

That error message when saving the settings is completely normal for battery powered Zigbee devices. The device enters a sleep mode after a few seconds of sending the motion trigger, which makes it disconnect from the Zigbee network. This means that the device is disconnected from your network and can’t receive the new settings. In most cases, pressing the pair button (short press) and quickly saving afterwards allows it to receive the new settings.

Other than what @smarthomesven states about sleepy devices needing to be woken up before you can change their parameters, I’m not convinced the “Resetvertraging” can actually be set for the Vallhorn (I can’t find any mention of it on the Z2M device page).

Yes, it can actually be se/changed:

It took several tries on all my three VALLHORN’s before it “took” and was saved.
(FW: 1.0.64 on all three it that matters)
