Hey y’all!
Totally new here, and have been LOVING Homey so far…except for this ONE thing that is pissing me off hahaha
To put it simply: I have a raspberry pi as homey SHS, and an Ikea Dirigera as my thread border router. All good with everything UNTIL its time to connect an Ikea matter sensor. No matter if I connect it to the Ikea app and then port it over to Homey or vice versa, after like what, 15 min, they seem to stop updating ON HOMEY ONLY, while always working on the Ikea app.
This has become so frustrating, I just wanted to automate some cool stuff
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I don’t have a Dirigera, I use an Apple TV as my TBR. I was unable to add my IKEA MYGGSPRAY Matter/Thread motion sensor to that or to Homey reliably either until I fixed my IPv6 configuration on my home network.
After doing that I was able to add the sensor to Apple Home first and then from there after some trial and error I was able to add to Homey SHS as well (I am running it as an UnRAID docker image).
I would recommend checking your IPv6 settings on the Raspberry Pi and on your home network first.
But based on what I am reading online these IKEA Matter/Thread devices are not as reliable as the Zigbee ones so I am not planning to buy any more in the near future.
Also even though now I have this sensor showing in both Apple Home and in Homey sometimes it still disappears (goes offline for no reason) and then comes back without doing anything, I am definitely not buying a Dirigera to troubleshoot this further.
Finally I also noticed as some others who posted on this forum that the Thread menu under Settings shows a generic error when using SHS so I raised an official support request to troubleshoot that, the final response to that was the following from Athom:
It seems like you are having SHS. SHS doesn’t have his own Thread network. That’s why you get this error message.
In principle, this is where we display the Homey Thread network, but as SHS doesn’t have one, it’s not working at the moment. It’s not (at present) a screen that shows all Thread networks. Perhaps that will change in the future.
Thanks for the reply!
I have IPv6 on by default on my router, it’s on everywhere, and without changing anything, it just keeps working forever on Ikea’s APP and even on homekit directly, just not on Homey, while always working on both other platforms, that’s why I have to assume it’s a Homey issue, and not a Homekit and Ikea issue.
Well, in my case when the Matter/Thread IKEA sensor becomes offline then it is offline both in Apple Home and in Homey so it seems your issue is slightly different compared to mine.
I hope IKEA and Athom can improve this in a future release!

I am loosing my mind over this hahahaha
Maybe this post helps? Shows issue troubleshooting and fix for two platforms (Synology and unraid) of Homey SHS and matter issues

OKAY SO, WE HAVE UPDATES!
Used a couple stopwatches, and repaired the motion sensor and placed it in front of me while I work. It detected me from x minutes to x minutes, and i managed to keep it working for at least 25 minutes. I then pointed the sensor to an empty area and left it for 3 minutes, a couple seconds less than that, with no motion or changes. I came back to it, and SHABLAM, IT NO LONGER DETECTED MOVEMENT!
It seems to be something to do with a possible standby that these devices have? A dorment state that kicks in? Not sure.
Any cues? Any ideas?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
A motion sensor does usually have a “blind time”, which kicks in as soon as motion is no longer detected. During this time (usually 30 seconds), the sensor can’t detect motion again (to save battery power).
I have exactly the same issue. The IKEA motion sensor MYGGSPRAY works perfectly with the IKEA DIRIGERA hub, but as soon as I add it to Homey, it works for a short while and then stops reporting its state.
I’ve tried several different ways, but always end up with the same result:
- Added it to DIRIGERA first, then added it to Homey
- Added it directly to Homey without DIRIGERA (also turned DIRIGERA off completely)
- Shared it from DIRIGERA to Homey
I agree - so much potential… but right now it’s mostly just frustration.
