Hue Bridge interferes with the Homey Pro when they are too close to each other

FYI:

I bought a Homey Pro a few weeks ago and paired it with the Hue Bridge. Shortly afterwards, I switched to the new Hue Bridge Pro, but switched back to the old Hue Bridge due to many problems.

In the process, I moved both bridges from the living room to the hallway and placed them right next to each other.

After that, I was unable to add any more devices. To be precise, I only tried with two IKEA Matter devices. Neither of them were recognised, even though I had previously added identical sensors to Homey. After separating the bridges again, I was able to add the two devices without any problems.

So they seem to interfere with each other. I can’t say whether this is a general issue or whether it only occurs with my specific configuration.

You need to change either the Hue Bridge or the Homey’s ZigBee channel. I also recently had an issue where a Hue bridge and a ThirdReality bridge were interfering with each other, a channel change fixed it.

I thought about that topic and checked it beforehand. The Hue bridge is running on channel 15 and the Homey pro on channel 25.

I‘m not very familiar with Zigbee and don’t know, how “close” this is. So I decided to test the separation of the two bridges first.

Maybe changing the channel would have been easier.

Thank you for your suggestion.

No, 15 and 25 are far away. If you have a PC and an ESP32C6, you can install this sketch for analysis of nearby ZigBee networks/interference. It has helped me discover my ZigBee issues

In the past, it was possible to change the Zigbee channel on a Homey. However, as the support team always advised against doing so because there was a possibility that some Zigbee devices would no longer work afterwards, this function was presumably removed at some point. So Homey’s Zigbee channel can’t be manually changed.
During the initial setup or after a Zigbee network reset, Homey automatically selects the optimal channel. That’s how it works with a Homey.

It is possible to change the ZigBee channels in the Developer Tools though.

Alternatively, you can also change the Hue Bridge’s channel.

Only on the pre-HP2023 models.

No, it’s not possible:

The function may depend on the Homey model. It was possible with my HP19, as I mentioned more or less in my original post. It’s not possible with my HP23 and HP26.

Which model do you have?

I‘m not sure who you are asking.

I’ve got a HP26. But I already found a solution to my problem. I just wanted to pass this information.

And I could still change the Zigbee channel of my Hue bridge, even though this is also not recommended.

I have a Pro 2019, maybe it’s different there.

Changing the zigbee channel on a Pro 2023 and newer models is possible, but it’s a pain: only a zigbee reset could cause the channel to change: Homey picks a quiet channel.
(Do make sure to set the 2.4GHz wifi channel to a fixed channel prior to the reset)

But, this requires repairing all zigbee devices,
Often (certain) battery operated devices have to be repaired or re-paired (using the pair button) multiple times to make them use the new channel.

As @Peter_Kawa already answered.

I know, @Peter_Kawa:wink:

I know you know, you know, but I always imagine there’s more Homeyotics reading along, who didn’t know yet :grimacing::wink:

But I had already mentioned the same thing in my post, perhaps not in such detail, but the same thing nonetheless.

Besides, you replied to one of my posts. That information wasn’t in that post, though, but in the previous one… :man_shrugging:t3:
