Everyday I have to re-pair my zigbee end (button) devices. I have plenty of zigbee routers and installed them first when I created homey. Would I be able to create a backup and then reset my zigbee network so it picks a new channel. (currently using channel 20). After I reset, could I simply use the backup and repair via maintenance on each device, vs going around my house and manually re-pairing every device? My ISP doesn’t let me pick a dedicated zigbee channel. End devices are third reality. thanks
Having a backup is always a good thing, though not required for a Zigbee reset.
What such a reset does, is remove the existing Zigbee network and create a new one. All Zigbee devices will remain in Homey, but in a disconnected/unavailable state.
If you have a recent Homey Pro (2023/mini or newer) you cannot select the desired Zigbee channel. You need to keep resetting the Zigbee network until Homey selects the one you want. Though Homey tries to select the optimal/least congested channel. If you have an older model Homey Pro then you can select the desired channel directly as part of the reset.
After the reset all your Zigbee devices will still be in your Homey devices overview though in an unavailable state. You have to repair them via the ‘Try to repair’ option shown when opening the device tile and/or by going into its Maintenance menu. Then follow the instructions.
The repair procedure is basically the same process as the initial pairing procedure, except that you won’t lose the existing device in Homey and related flows. You will though have to re-configure any specific device settings you made (if any) in the Advanced Settings section in the device tile (as they will be reset to their standard values).
When performing the repair procedure, make sure to perform this first for (mains powered) Zigbee devices that act as a Zigbee router device (like smart plugs and switches), as together, they will build up the foundation of your Zigbee mesh network. After you repaired all router devices, continue with the battery powered devices (like sensors).
Is there a zigbee channel I should try to find during the reset? My homey mini is brand new and I’d like to get baseline network correct before adding more devices later. Thanks
It is best to choose a Zigbee channel that does not overlap with your home network’s WiFi 2.4 Ghz band (or similar strong networks in your area).

Imho the best way to get rid of Homey’s Zigbee problems is to not use it at all…
Very pleased with my Zigbee2MQTT setup and the Homey app that imports all Zigbee devices into Homey.
See links above.
Rock steady, firmware updates, etc. Takes a little effort, hardware and time to set up, but your Zigbee problems will be something of the past…
