How to get a snapshot in homey dashboard from hikvision camera?

Hello,

I have homey pro 2023 and a hikvision ip camera. I can view the camera directly true the ip adres or true the NVR.

If I want to add the camera to homey ( virtual devices, Ip camera, add this url like homey asks: http://user:pass@ip adress/image.jpg) I get a error the url is not correct.

What am I’m doing wrong?

Can you open the URL in a regular browser to see a snapshot? It should be a regular image, not a web page that shows an image or a live stream.

hello,

yes I’m getting a image if I put this url: http://user:pass@ipadress/ISAPI/streaming/channels/101/picture

but when I put this url in homey I get this message:

I don’t understand why the screenshot is showing a completely different URL than the one in your text.

Hello,

The url asked in homey doesn’t work with the credentials asked… if I filled in that url I get an error.

I have ask hikvision and they have send me the url for getting a snapshot. And that was that url.

So that’s why

What is “an error”?

If you mean the URL that has “randnum” in it: that’s almost certainly not a snapshot URL.

This is what I did:

Homey is asking this:

This is what I filled in:

This is the error:

What can I do more then filled in what homey is asking for?

Regards

The http://user:pass@192.168.1.10/image.jpg text is purely a placeholder (an example).

You already said that when opening the URL http://user:pass@ipadress/ISAPI/streaming/channels/101/picture in a browser, you get an image, so that’s the URL that you should be using. But that URL gives the same error (the one with randnum in it)?

If that’s the case, it may not work with your camera at all.

You can contact Athom to ask them to enable support for self-signed certificates: https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/360015784034-Submitting-a-support-request

Perhaps @Adrian_Rockall knows if his ONVIF app supports this camera directly?

The ONVIF app does support some Hikvision cameras, I have one myself but it’s not currently plugged in.
It’s worth a try though.

Thank you for the good advises !

I will check everything and play around with it. If it works I will come back here to report

Thnx!

I have 3 hikvision camera’s on synology NAS server.
And connect de nas server and 3 camera’s with the homey pro.
Works great and you can place them very easy on dashboard

That is a really good idea! I will test it and let you know if it worked!

Thanks for the advice

I’ve got some HikVision ColorVue camera’s and added them with the ONVIF app by manual adding their IP adress.
