Homey Sale

Does Homey Pro ever go on sale?

There was a special promotion during last Black Friday.

I will wait until next year. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I am not sure which Homey you are interested in and in which country you are. Some shops, like Robbshop currently still have a promotion on Homey Pro. If you are looking for a Bridge, then Athom themselves have a promotion via a coupon code in their Homey Advent Calendar.

BRIDGE15 doesn’t work.

Ah ok. Maybe that promotion was limited to the specific day indicated on the calendar. You might want to search the internet for possible other promotions. I see some webshops offer lower prices than Athom’s own store.

Does the Cloud version have the same features as the Pro version?

No, Homey Cloud + Bridge does not support community apps. There are a lot of useful community apps. It took me about a week of having the Homey Bridge that I realized I should have gotten the Pro instead.

Also the Bridge requires Homey Cloud. If your e.g. the internet is down, your smart home is down.

Homey Pro is very expensive. I am wondering if the mini and the bridge is a good option? @danieldk

The Homey Pro Mini also supports all Homey Pro features. For RF, IR and Z-Wave, an extra Homey Bridge is required

It depends on your definition of ‘features’. Some nuances:

  • It does not come with Z-Wave, BLE, IR and 433MHz antenna’s. So if that is something you need, then you have to add the Bridge (or other hardware).
  • It has half the internal memory. If I recall for running approx. 20 apps, while the 2023-model is said to run 60 apps.

See comparison in this news article: Homey Pro mini is now available worldwide – News | Homey

It all depends on what you (expect to) need.

I meant Homey Pro Mini has all the software features, including the community apps. I have now updated my post

245 + 65 = €310
Pro 2023 = €400 (+ optional ethernet dongle costs), but often (somewhat) cheaper to get. @ Black friday it was €50,- less expensive.
I’d go for the Pro 2023.

Also realize a mini + bridge sends your z-wave/BLE/433MHz/IR signals over wifi.
Probsbly it can run very well, don’t get me wrong,
but it adds a layer of risk to interruptions due to network / wifi related problems.
The advantages of z-wave, 433, BLE is they don’t need ethernet.
Just sayin’.

Maybe this one fits on the mini as well
Edit: should be a CM4 (afaik)

And wow, do you realize soon that 20 apps is just very limited.

Robbshop still has it for 349, possibly some other places as well.

I would be surprised if somebody who finds the Pro to expensive will violate their Mini’s warranty . But yeah, with that module it’ll have enough memory for years to come. By the way, some people have already done it (there is at least one Youtube video about the upgrade).

And that is now, presumably someone would want to use it for some years, and 1GiB is not a lot (even the HA Green, which is cheaper has 4GiB RAM).

I bought it from Home Depot on sale plus I get an extra 10%. I hope I can find a thermostat app to go with my 2gig Go Control.

Ok, it is on sale most likely because Athom just announced the Homey Pro 2026.
