Homey Pro (early) 2019 doesn't start

Hi all,

Any helpfull ideas on a Homey Pro Early 2019 (the dual-core/1GB version) that doesn’t seem to start?

No led-ring at all, no sound when keeping it upside down (after giving it a minute). When disconnecting the ball from power, I only hear a crackle from the speaker. That is literally the only thing he does, the rest seems dead… :frowning:

Another powersupply (iPad adapter, 5V, 2A) and cable don’t help; same issue then.

I bought this one second-hand to install in my basement to link to my HP23 with the Homey Link app.
The seller is very understanding and reasonable, but I still hope someone has a bright idea to get it working…?

I’m afraid that Homey is dead. You can try to connect it via some USB power meter and check the current. If it’s very low, it’s dead.

Just beware of PD power supplies, never use them on USB Mini port / Homey 19 in general. Not sure which kind of that adapter is but hopefully it’s not PD.

Why not to use Homey Bridge ? At least it works like antenna for ZWAVE / Zigbee / IR and hopefully in the future also Bluetooth.

Thanks for the reply, @Sharkys.
No, it’s an old iPad charger, no PD. Have used it before on my previous HP19’s.
And the Homey seemed already dead with the original power supply. That was the reason for exchanging power supply and cable.
I don’t have a usb power meter unfortunately.

I do have a Homey Bridge as well, but the signals don’t reach the basement. I only have wifi there (connected by Powerline to my home.
Unfortunately Homey Link doesn’t work with a Bridge.

Then it’s clear - RIP …

Well, but Homey 19 is wifi only as well, right ? So not sure I understand

Nope, I mean adding it as Satelitte, if that would serve your needs.

I know what you meant, @Sharkys:slight_smile:

Using the bridge as satellite won’t work, because it only acts as a Zigbee/Zwave router, but for that those signals have to reach the basement, in order to reroute those.

I have a accesspoint for wifi in my basement. That accesspoint is connected to my home network, 3 stories up.
That way HP19 can connect to wifi and be connected to my HP23 with Homey Link.

You can try this, Henk (do not wait for Homey to say things): power it up, turn upsidedown after 30s, pick “add new Homey” in Homey app.

Indeed, but for that you must have just some other ZWAVE/Zigbee repeater in close distance (in theory). For IR it’s via Wifi, for Bluetooth I would say it will be similar as IR. But yeah, probably most reliable might be Homey Link in such case.

If I remember, there was also specific LED color during upside down, right? If even that is not showing up… but yeah, nothing to lose here.

Yeah I meant, sometimes the voice or led don’t work when starting up, but Homey still is. Don’t let it fool you (too soon) thinking Homey is dead.

Probably influenced by this …

…but as I said, it will not harm anything

That occurs when cutting the power, both of my (functioning) Pro 19’s make that sound when unplugging.

It was worth the try, but unfortunately not.
Homey is not creating any wifi network after turning it upside down… :frowning:

Bummer.

Yeah, it was.
Luckily the seller was very reasonable and took it back.
I now bought another Homey that is functioning well…
Thanks for all the input @Sharkys and @Peter_Kawa! :+1:t2:

Oh, that’s very reasonable by the seller!
