I have been working to incorporate my solar set-up into my home automations. Specifically, I would like to run certain automations to shut off items when we lose grid power and are only on batteries and/or solar. My solar set up is Enphase IQ8 Microinverters, Enphase batteries, and Enphase Gateways.
I successfully connected the Solar Panels App (v5.3.2) and it seems to read the power (production) ok, but I would like to use the power (grid) in a when statement for the flows, but I can’t seem to get any readings from the gateways for this. The reality is, I just want to trigger automations when the grid is down, and this seemed like a solid way to do it.
Can anyone provide any suggestions on what I am missing? Thanks!
Add some measerment on your Grid power meter (P1) I don’t now from where you are.
But in the most countries they got smartmeter reading, true the P1 protocoll or add in serial with your Grid a own “Grid” power meter like a Eaton Md630 (for a 3 fase power grid) or if you have oly one fase a MD230)
Then you can get measurment’s about the use (or down) off the grid.
You get on your Enphase sytem only the status of the exit port to your grid (and off course the status off your PV install)
Thanks Johan,
I should have stated that I in in the United States up front. Unfortunately, we aren’t as progressive on the smart meters, so I don’t think I have that option.
I was hoping to work through the Enphase system as it should have awareness of the grid presence, but I would consider an aftermarket power meter with current transformers if there is one that has a Homey Pro app.
