I just got a new Homey Pro (2026) but it does not power on when USB-C cable on the Homey side is connected one way, rotating it and connect it, the Homey starts up (LED ring lights up). I take it that this can only indicate an hardware problem. I have tried several different USB chargers and several different cables, all with the same result. What to do besides return it?
Were the chargers 5V and at least 2A?
I suspect you assume Homey quits because of the LEDs turning off.
Afaik the LED ring lights up for a short while when booting. Then it just turns off and Homey continues booting. This shouldn’t take very long.
Meanwhile you can open Homey app, and add a new Homey.
BTW This step is missing in the quick start guide:

I think he is indicating that his Homey works, but only when connecting the USB-connector facing one side. While it should work not matter how you plug in the USB-C connector (either upside or down should both work):
I might be misunderstanding his question.
Yes. I have tried several chargers including the one that was part of the box. All chargers works if I plug in the USB-C connector one way but not the other.
I haven´t gotten to connecting the Homey to my account yet, so the problem I´m seeing is when connecting the power to it, its either completely dead (LED ring does not light up) or it seems to start up as expected (LED ring lights up and start shifting color and eventually turning blue).
Yes, if connecting the USB-C connector one way the Homey seems to start up but not the other way. I have not encountered any USB-C powered devices that requires the connector to be connected in a specific way to work, this is why I leaning towards this being an hardware problem.
Hi @Magnus_ABC
Your Homey works fine when the usb-c plug is connected in 1 orientation, but it fails if it’s rotated 180 degrees, right? I’m pretty sure this is harmless (just keep the plug in the orientation that works) but it’s best to contact support anyway. They will take care of you. If you DM me your ticket no, I’ll make sure its handled with priority.
