Homey Pro 2023 overheating, damage possible?

Yesterday i had the problem that my Homey Pro was getting very hot. It was so hot, that it was nearly unpossible to touch the under surface.
In the insights i have seen that the CPU Temperature was going up to 90 degrees for nearly one day. CPU clock was going down to 0,6 Ghz
Removing the power helped to solve the issue.
What could be the issue of this behaviour?
Is it possible that the Homey Pro is damaged by the overheating?

Hello & welcome,

This is not normal. I think it’s odd it didn’t shut itself down with these high temperatures.
There has been several posts about melted Homey Pro 2023 models, it’s not unique.

I’d like to recommend to report to Support right away (homey.app/support)

Also try to create an offline USB backup when you haven’t yet (and when don’t have a cloud backup supscription).

You can check insights for every app’s CPU usage, maybe there’s something which used excessive CPU time;
Enable “Experiments > power user” to have them listed

Hello @Peter_Kawa,

thanks for your help, i will contact the Suport. The middle of the bottom melted also a little bit on my side, not so much like from other reports.

I have looked to the insights of the Apps. Some were going up in CPU usage during this time, but not much.

A clowd backup subscription i have already.

I hope they will send me a repacement soon.

No problem.
From reading the responses they’re pretty quick with sending a replacement unit.

It’s a bit weird there’s no shutdown-before-i-start-to-melt system in place.
Also the design of a closed box with passive cooling on the inside, tells me Athom is not taking possible overheating scenario’s very seriously.
On the other hand, this melting issue seems to be quite uncommon, only Athom knows the real figures. Not everyone is posting such issues on the forum I think.
