I’m trying to work out my next steps with Homey and could use a bit of clarity on future direction.
Given the Homey Pro (Early 2023) is still fairly new, are there any plans for it to support a simpler satellite-style role, similar to what Homey Bridge offers? I’m mainly thinking about basic radio extension (Zigbee/Z-Wave, and possibly Bluetooth), rather than full multi-hub setups.
HomeyLink does work (I currently have deployed with HP23 & HP19), but it adds extra complexity and ongoing management, which feels like overkill when the goal is just extending coverage.
With the current memory limits on HP23, this is becoming a real factor in deciding what to invest in next — whether that’s upgrading to Homey Pro (2026), adding a Homey Bridge, or potentially moving toward a self-hosted setup.
Understanding whether a simpler extension option is on the roadmap would really help guide that decision. Also interested in what others have done.
I’m not sure if I understand but Homey Bridge in Satelitte mode does support it - it acts as Zigbee repeater, ZWAVE repeater, Bluetooth GW and also works for IR signals. It’s very simple to setup but probably I misunderstood the question ? And the same way the Bridge can be used with Homey Self Hosted system… but all of that only via (same) Wifi and same physical location.
I think I may have muddied the waters — sorry about that.
I’m not confused about HomeyLink or Bridge today. I’m really asking whether a lighter-weight, radio-extension-only role for Homey Pro has ever been considered.
With HP23 memory limits, this affects whether the next step is HP26, Bridge, HomeyLink, or even a SHS-style setup. I’d also love to hear what others are doing in practice.
If this belongs in Feature Requests, happy to move it — just wanted to understand if it’s a non-starter first.
