Homey moods reliability issues

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Homey for my smart home setup, and overall, it’s been great, but I’m running into some reliability issues when it comes to controlling my Philips Hue through the Homey “moods” feature. I’m hoping to get some advice or hear if anyone else is experiencing similar problems.

I’ve created four moods in Homey to control my Philips Hue lights based on active zones or times of day, but I’ve been having issues with how they trigger and how consistent the results are. Sometimes, the lights don’t change as expected, or there’s a noticeable delay, making the mood unreliable.

Specific issues:

  1. Delayed Activation: When a mood is triggered from a flow, the lights can take a long time to respond, sometimes 3 seconds or more, which makes it feel disjointed.

  2. Incorrect Lighting Settings: I’ve set up moods like “daylight” or “night light” to adjust brightness and color temperature, but frequently, the wrong settings get applied in the way that some of the lights turn on in the previous mood, while others “update” so to speak, to the current mood.

  3. Flow vs. manually triggered: Occasionally, moods won’t trigger the light when asked to do so via a flow, but works fine if I manually select the mood in the Homey app. By the way, the light work flawlessly in the Hue app, so I’m pretty confident, that it’s not an issue with Philips Hue.

What I’ve tried:

  • Restarting the Homey device and the Hue bridge.
  • Updating both the Homey software and the Philips Hue firmware.
  • Double-checking all the settings and connections between Homey and the Hue system.
  • Re-linking the Hue app in Homey.

Has anyone else experienced similar reliability issues with Homey moods? Any troubleshooting tips or solutions you’ve found to improve the mood triggers? I’d really appreciate any advice on how to get things working smoothly again.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m afraid there’s little you can do as a user.
Athom should solve these quirks. Do note Homey never has been able to switch more than X devices at a time. Apps like Device Capabilities and < Group > use a reliable method (sequential controlling) for that.

Probably Moods with just 2 or 3 lights work a lot better / snappier, you can give that a try.

I would discuss this with Support, Moods is not yet a finished “plugin” if you ask me.
