Hi,
For about 10+ years I have 15 solarpanels on my house. Recently I have bought the Homey Energy Dongle. Of course I’d like to see my solarpanels power in the Energy tab on my Homey app.
But, I don’t have an solarpanels app for my inverter. Is it possible to extract the data out of the Homey Energy dongle, put it in a variable to see the output of my solarpanels?
E.g. by using a virtual device with the “zonnepanelen” capability I get the panels on my roof; so for now I’m looking to see the data
Anyone?
Thanks!
You can only view the solar panel output minus the actual power usage of your home.
Which can be used to feed a virtual device of course, but it’ll show the solar panel net values, not the actual values.
To measure the actual solar panel output, you can consider adding a power clamp metering device, like Shelly offers. Just put the clamp(s) around the power wire(s): one for a 1 phase, or 3 for a 3 phase inverter:
Or add a metering device in between the power wire(s), like Homewizard offers:

The energy dongle can only report energy usage at the meter (the gate from your house to the grid). It doesn’t know how much is produced by your panels or how much energy is used inside the house.
Does your inverter perhaps support Modbus TCP? Perhaps serial Modbus and you could add a network dongle to your inverter to use ModbusTCP to read inverter data. Just as idea…
