I have my Homey early 2016 and TP-link DECO router M5V3 with a good connection until now.
Because of problems with connecting a P1-meter (error 443) I hoped to solve that problem to remove the Homey wifi connection from my guest network.
So I started the recovery mode. But now I am stuck because Homey cannot connect to the Wi-Fi network.
After several attempts restarted also the DECO. Still no result.
Homey was item in the DECO the list with off-line clients. Removed it. Again no result.
I suspect that the connection problem is related to that error 443.
Do you have special characters (spaces, for example) in your SSID? You might need to remove those first. Also, you might need to turn off your other Decos while setting up Homey.
Homey’s wifi implementation is some piece of work (NOT meant as a compliment ).
When you really didn’t change any wifi/LAN settings, it shouldn’t be necessary to change anything.
(but why put Homey on the guest network ?).
Just yesterday I was checking on something, and had to start Homey 2019 in recovery mode.
Connecting to the same SSID it was connected to for months and months, with almost no “Homey offline” messages, did not succeed
Fix:
By just repeating the process, it suddenly succeeded and it runs w/o issues again.
.
Can you post the exact error msg? http error 443 doesn’t exist. Was it 403 (meaning ‘forbidden’) by any chance?
If it’s a Homewizard P1 dongle, please read the 1st post of the Homewizard topic (as linked to on the app page at the homey.app store).
No. P1 and Homey connection issues can’t be related, unless you changed something on your (W)LAN settings prior to that.
In case of “fiddling until it works”: I recommend to record every change you make, for instance by backing up the wifi router settings with clear descriptions (as in a, changelog).
(I sometimes still find myself changing stuff w/o keeping track of things → be smarter )
Because of problems with connecting the P1-meter, I consulted a chat bot. Is was advised there to connect both to the same network.
I just succeeded to connect Homey to my 2,4Ghz guest network. Connecting with my main 2,4 / 5 Ghz network didn’t work.
But I still can’t manage to connect my Homewizard P1 meter to Homey. Homey does find it. In the final step, the button needs to be pressed—it’s unclear whether it needs to be short or long—until it turns blue. Then a message appears “request to https://192… /api/user failed:, reason: connect EHOSTUNREACH IP adres:443”.
Also strange, I even can’t connect the Logitech Harmony hub.
Both items suddenly give problems. I suspect a recently added INNR plug OSP 240. I removed it again, but without result.
Because the guest network on your router is likely client isolated. This means that, for security purposes, devices (guests) can’t reach eachother within the network.
If this comment is true, I am completely baffled. The Logitech Harmony hub and the Homewizard P1 meter were connected via the 2.4GHz guest network without problems until recently. As I mentioned earlier, the addition of the INNR socket OSP240 was the last change I made before the problems started. I removed the socket but without positive result.
Yes, those devices likely work correctly in the manufacturer’s app, because those communicate with the mobile app via the cloud. However, Homey needs to communicate to them over the LAN, which is isolated in case of a guest network.
I also had Wifi problem with my 2018 homey pro and Deco, in the Deco I switched on High Priority and disabled mesh technology for the homey pro. You can set these per client. And of course in DHCP make sure to always assign the same IP adresss to the Homey. I also do that with my security IP cams. It solved some of connectivity issues
While searching for a solution, I noticed that the INNR elements also consistently gave an error in the list of devices. The INNR plug OSP240 was the last device added.
Ultimately, all problems were resolved after I removed everything from INNR (devices and app) from Homey.
I have informed INNR about this.
