Homey does not communicate with apps

Hello,

My Homey pro 2023 (bought a month ago) does not communicate with apps since a few days.

  • It does not communicate with / get data from 90% of apps (for example Netatmo, P2000, KNMI, Buienrader, Lametric)

  • It does not install new apps, it keeps spinning and goes to a time out after a minute or so)

  • It does get data from a few apps (for example Homewizard, but thats maybe because of local api?)

  • It does trigger on Hue motion sensors (the led ring will light up from a flow, but it wont sent data to lametric from the same flow)

I have rebooted the Homey, i have connected it to my computer and updated the firmware, the problem still exists.

What else can i do?

As you indicate that most apps seem to be cloud related: maybe a restart of your router helps. Also, does you Homey have a fixed IP address?

I can control the Homey from outside my house, it does not have a fixed IP address.
I could try a router restart later today, but since i have external connection it should have no wifi issues?

I agree. On the other hand, looking at other posts, network handling is sometimes an element in such issues. It’s always worth a try and easy to perform.

Thanks, i will give it a try when i get home.
If this is the issue, how can i prevent this from happening again?

Edit, restarting the mesh routers solved the problem.
What can i do to prevent this in the future?
Ive already assigned Homey to the main unit and 2,4ghz only.

Glad to read that it works!

I have seen other posts related to issues with mesh WiFi networks and Homey. I believe they related to a TP-Link Deco Mesh setup. Not sure whether that corresponds to your home setup. You might want to search for those posts in this forum.

If it reoccurs, and you have the option, you might want to consider connecting your Homey via Ethernet (using the Homey, or compatible, dongle) and disable WiFi on your Homey. That will ensure a more stable connection. Of course this is a workaround. I don’t know why some WiFi/mesh setups don’t work well with Homey.

Fix Homey’s IP to one AP, to prevent hopping.

Hi Peter,
do you mean that the IP of a AP should be entered in Homey? I looked into the app, but didn’t found a field to enter a IP.
Or that a fix IP for Homey should be assigned in the AP?

Hi Peter,

You’d reserve an IP address for Homey ( using Homey’s MAC address) at your DHCP server, often part of your router.
Usually there’s only one DHCP server in a home network.

To “glue” Homey to one AP, you can use tools like MAC address filtering, band steering or adjusting transmit power.

How-to info should be available in the manuals of these router & AP’s.
Just ask when things are unclear, it can be pretty intimidating stuff.
