Homey Dashboards | Megathread

@Yann_Liqueur if this errors occurs again, could you PM me a diagnostic report id? We are gathering information about this specific issue.

@Harwin i got the same problem one ago. But I restarted my homey app.

I will work on that tonight and as soon as I reproduce the bug I would create the diagnostic before restarting

Very nice! Thanks for sharing!

Some thoughts;

  • Would be nice to be able to select a language
  • The weather widget is taking some space with the 6 day forecast. Would be nice to select the number of days, or be able to just toggle between like 6 and 3 days.
  • It seemed to be that the weather and sun widget are using different data. There is a difference in the sunset time:

Maybe it has been asked before. But why cant you swipe between the dashboards?

I can only select them one by name.

For me it would be easier to create 5 dashboards with 3 columns than one inmense dashboard with 15 columns. It also saves some loading time.

I created a media widget in another room and get back to this page.

@Harwin
It was already asked, bu I also want to vote for a stacked insights chart.

Take these energy charts as example:

I need 4 charts for solar production, usage, feed-in and grid usage. and all are the same automatic color (based in capability?). And the yAxis is not compareable.

This is an example from HA:

4 charts are using one yAxis and battery SoC the second. All energy charts are compareable (same y range).
This combination as a cool designed Homey insigts chart would be awsome. And if it would be possible to select colors it would be perfect.

I will try to add more languages soon!

The differences in sunrise and sunset times occur because the widgets use different methods to retrieve the data. The weather forecast widget uses data from open-meteo.com, while the sun widget uses an offline script. This has the advantage that the sun widget doesn’t require data from the internet.
The meaning of the sunrise and sunset times in the sun widget are as follows: Sunrise: top edge of the sun appears on the horizon.
Sunset: Sun disappears below the horizon, evening civil twilight starts.

Open-meteo may be using another method to calculate the sunrise and sunset. For now it’s not something I really want to mess with, since the differences are kinda small.

About your second point: I’ve implemented an option to change the number of displayed days! I will appear in the next update! Thanks for the suggestion.

I am using an old Samsung Galaxy S8 in kioskmode for the Dashboard. Unfortunately I am experiencing some lag with refreshing the dashboard after opening it. I think this is because on the background several parameters need to refresh for the whole Homey-app. It would probably a smoother experience if the dashboard was a standalone app (or a webapp). Is a standalone app something that we will see in the futher? (I tried to search in this thread, but couldn’t find an answer)

You can follow the link in the post below and like the first message to show your interest in Dashboard on a Web App:

1st post FAQ
(The (Android) app is indeed terribly slow)

My question was not just webapp. A standalone app could also be in the same infrastructure as the normal app but without options to change other Homey settings. A dashboard only app.

Will do. Thanks.

Check. I would like to suggest to ask Emile to add your Q (and the Athom response) to the FAQ.

The dashboard is great (once I finally worked out how to add a single item) BUT it’s hard to believe a dashboard was created in monochrome (i.e. black and white)!
It looks soooo boring and uninteresting.
Please please please add color setting in the item editing.

Or maybe the possibility for a wallpaper?

This topic is about a request for a specific widget, not for the dashboard itself:

I’d like to recommend you to create your own request, and / or post your preferences here:

To you it might. Others may like it quiet and simple. But to have a choice is a good idea..

Harwin maybe stupid question but what is the reason for this limit ? Eg. on my Android, I have 1 column only, so I was expecting “no low limit”. It’s still not so much scrolling having currently 15 widget… eg. can still imagine 20 to be absolutely fine (design / usability wise)

I’ve added translations and customization options to the Weather Forecast widget.

The new version can be tested via this link:

Please let me know if they work!

where are the clock hands (both WidgetBoard clocks)?

Suggestion for the Braun-like clock: dashboard user can type in a self chosen name.
Suggestion 2: make clock corners transparent, so the clocks will look good in light and dark mode.

@Amersfoort Hmm, I’ve never seen that happen. Does reloading the Dashboard fix it?
