I still only gett add new homey after getting in Appstore.
I have sent it via SMS, but you can use whatever you desire. It was a long time ago, but I remember having to switch off the Wi-Fi before using the invitation link.
It was unreasonably difficult. We had to discont WiFi, send link via sms, and reinstall the App all at the same time.
