Govee strip light - can't add to homey pro

Hi there,

I purchased a Govee LED Strip light that I control with my Govee phone app. I’ve installed the Govee app on Homey and when I try to install the strip light I’m not able to. It doesn’t show up as a bluetooth device and when I go into the Govee app inside Homey, I’m not able to select the correct device because it doesn’t appear among the ones listed.

Can someone please guide me a bit on how to add it?

Thank you

Alex

Is it a WiFi LED strip? Only WiFi LED strips are supported by Homey.

Understood. I was under the impression that since they’re Bluetooth, they’re also able to be “seen” by homey. And Homey is a multi platform device no?

is there a definitive list of devices that are accepted by Homey? It seems like this would be valuable so that we don’t keep purchasing things that sing with with it.

Thank you

Alex

When you hover over the device in the app store, you can see the technology that it uses. In case of Govee:

Since it communicates via the cloud, it needs some kind of realtime internet access. If Govee has a BLE to WiFi hub, then it may work with BLE devices. In case of cloud connections, the device needs a constant internet connection to receive commands. LAN devices are mostly the same, but those require a local network connection instead of a cloud/server connection.

When a device is marked with Bluetooth LE, you can connect it to Homey directly over BLE:
