I’m experiencing an issue with my Govee M1 LED strip. Initially, I successfully connected it to Homey Pro via Matter. However, when I recently attempted to reconnect after removing it completely, Homey Pro was unable to add the M1 strip, resulting in a timeout error and a message stating it can’t connect. Interestingly, I can still connect to the strip through HomeKit without any issues.
Does anyone have any tips or steps to sort out this connection problem with my Homey Pro? Also, do you think it could be a bug in the Homey Pro?
Ok, I’m glad you posted this because it is now 2025 and I just ran into the same problem with the Govee Matter enabled Mini Panel Lights. First time it paired, next time it fails just like it did for you. So my question is has anyone figured out a fix? Thank you, Mark
Make sure the Homey Pro is very close to your Govee Mini Panel Lights as it uses Bluetooth for initial pairing.
Make sure the Mini Panel Lights are paired to the Govee phone App.
go to settings and get the Matter pairing code
close the Govee phone app
With the Mini plugged in and on, long Press the Power button on the Minis controller while simultaneously clicking the middle buttons 4 times, let go of the power button. All the lights should turn white.
in the Homey phone app add a new device and select Govee and then Matter devices.
Begin the process, and enter the matter code
It will take a while and the screen will change from using bluetooth to linking to wifi. it takes a while
you should finally pair up.
you should be able to control the Mini Panel Lights.
Move your Homey Pro back to where you want it.
what like 10 minutes after plugging it back in as for some reason Homey takes forever to reconnect. if you dont wait long enough homey will complain and then eventually it will work. The 10 min wait is just to be safe.
to note: keep in mind Govee Mini matter pairing is only active for 15 min, so if need be just pull the plug and reinsert. This will help in the pairing step…
Also, the Govee Homey app doesn’t support any of the fancy routines like in the Govee phone app, Just open the Govee phone app and IMPORTANT, go to setting and recalibrate the design, otherwise the pattern will be weird. Once you do this you can then select any of the Govee preset patterns, especially the music ones and all should work. Then you can use the Homey app to control the intensity and on off.
