Let’s start from the beginning collecting some informations
You are using the current widget version (0.2.9)?
You are using a iOS mobile phone that’s causing the Homey WebAPI not to work?
You set up the widget settings to use “API key” and copied the Homey API key and the Homey url into widget settings?
I ask because there are some different conditions for both variants…
WebAPI is working normally with oAuth authentification. Due to the Garmin bug in theit iOS Connect app, the widget can’t authentificate at your Homey. In this case, the error message “incompatible device” is shown.
On a HomeyPro 23, you can use the local API key instead in combination with a cloud URL. Both settings are only needed if you set “use API key” in widget settings.
The API key mus be defined in HP23 settings and must be copied and storerd safely (in a keystore) because you can only copy it on creation.
To use the API key, a direct URL to your Homey is needed. That’s the default cloud URL in most cases (https://[homey_id].connect.athom.com), but it can also be another one based on the used data center like https://[homey_id].homey.eucentral1-prod001.homeypro.net
To test in local environmelt (LAN), you can try the local URLs like https://192-168-1-123.homey.homeylocal.com (LAN access via IP) or http://homey-[homey_id].local (LAN access via Athom ID)
And at least you can try Garmin Express to change widget settings. The iOS app is known to have issues with the text fields.
yes i have the widget version 0.2.9 my homey is early 2016 and i don’t have ios but android and i have a windows pc where i have already entered it in homey and i have entered the local address and then i get error -300
HomeyPro16 doesn’t offer an API key. What key did you enter in settings?
Only way for you is to use WebAPI. And with an Android phone it should work.
Please activate WebAPI in settngs. Then starh the widget on your watch. You are prompted to login on your phone (Connect app). Login with your Homey account (and 2FA if used). If that is fiished, the widget should show your Homey.
Thanks for creating this, @RonnyW, it works great!
Maybe for new users on iOS there could be a more specific error message than “400” so they know to visit this Thread to set it up correctly. Also it would be great if you could open source it in case someone wants to contribute or you decide to not continue supporting it
Looks really cool and I would love to use this. Will this be updated to able to be used on the new Fenix 8 amoled line? As far as I can see on the app store, it’s not yet compatible
Version 0.3.2 is available with additional devices (Fenix 8 series, Fenix E, Enduro 3).
Gamin has a staged roll out, so it can take some time until it’s available for all devices.
Hi! Is it possible to choose what the widget opens as the default? For me, the only thing I use are to initiate flows, but to get to the flows right now, I have to go through the page with stats about homey, then choose flows category and then I am at the flows. It’s just a lot of button clicks and waiting for it to load to get there. I could not find a setting for it. When I open the widget I would like to see the flows directly if that is possible somehow
Hi, that’s not possible. From widget carousel, where you can see the glance view (the small peview), you can only start the widget (showing the stats page as first landing page).
But you can change the order of categories in app settings to place flow page on first place. Not a big change but you can make a double tap instead on scrolling between.
I got it working again, I just deinstalled all from the watch and reainstalled
@RonnyW as you know the Garmin api here - would it be possible to read the sleep tracker of the garmin watch while active? (to get something like a self made sleep phase alarm)
But even if it would be possible, it would need an app you have to start (like an activity) that runs in foreground to keep awake to check current data.
And I don’t think Garmin gives access to such personal health data.
