Flow or App that calls a mobile phone?

Can Homey Pro call my mobile (and/or send an SMS) ?

I know that Homey Pro does not have a SIM card slot… but maybe there is a way to trigger an API call to a Cloud mobile / sms SaaS ?

I´m considering replacing my “dumb” security system with the Homey Pro, since it also supports 433 Mhz devices. I have 433 Mhz smoke detectors that currently connect to a “hub” that has a SIM card. If a smoke detector alarm goes off, a few family members receive a phone call to our mobile and an SMS.

Can something similar be achieved with Homey Pro?

I have read the product details, checked the apps and read a bit through the community, but did not find an answer.

I entered ‘SMS’ in the app store search bar:
Both these apps can send SMS texts:

Thank you Peter,

I searched for mobile, GSM, SIM but forgot the SMS option.

I would prefer the “phone call” function. I know that an “app” can alert me, but in the case I am out of 3G/4G/5G mobile networks… If feel that a regular phone call is most reliable.

YW, Skuli.

Afaik the SMS service uses the ‘free’ space between phone data on the mobile phone service.
It doesn’t use the 4/5G mobile data network. And SMS messages still arrive, with a delay, when you happened to be out of reach / on a blindspot at the time of sending.
But maybe I misunderstood.

FWIW Telegram, part of the CallMeBot app, can send voice messages, but T uses the 4/5G mobile data network

Thank you Peter,

My main concern is that I would not notice an incoming “SMS” message or a “ding”. While a “phone call” would be something that alerts me more noticeably over a period of time and as an alarm… I couldevent set a profile in my phone so the “caller” has a ring-tone of an alarm…

Agreed, but a SMS would still come in after you where in an area w/o coverage. A phonecall would be missed…

I have decided to add the callmebot app and have it send me a whatsapp msg. I’ll probably give it’s number it’s own alert sound, like something that keeps going for a couple of minutes…

If the important thing is to have the notification reliably notify you on your mobile and be easily distinguished from other notifications then another option is to use pushover.net and the Homey pushover app. Pushover has an option for different severities of alert, with the most severe ones triggering an alarm sound on your mobile even if the mobile is in silent / do not disturb mode (using overrides built into the OS). The severity of alert is controllable via the flow cards in Homey so you can reserve the highest level alerts for situations where you genuinely want to be woken up / notified at any time of day or night. Also, it’s a one time $5 charge with no subscription fees.

But, does Pushover use the telephone “line”, like SMS does?

No it works over data. Of course it doesn’t need a fast connection so even an edge connection is enough. It’s a trade off. How often are you actually out of any data coverage at all vs how important is it to be notified at all times even when other notifications silenced.
