Fibaro motion sensor no working

Hi all,

I could use some help with my Fibaro motion sensors.

I recently migrated from SmartThings to Homey. I have two Fibaro motion sensors that were working perfectly fine with SmartThings. After factory-resetting them, I was able to add both sensors to Homey without any issues.

Unfortunately, they don’t seem to refresh or report data properly. After some time, a few values appear, but motion detection never updates or triggers. I’ve tried factory-resetting them multiple times and re-adding them both through the Fibaro integration and as generic Z-Wave devices, but the result is always the same.

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what might be causing this issue?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

So the sensor isn’t getting updated? How far away is the sensor to the closest mains-powered Z-Wave device? Also, are you using Homey Cloud (Bridge) or Homey Pro?

hi, The sensor is not receiving any data. After approximately 12 hours, I can see lux and temperature readings, but the motion sensor is still not detecting any movement.

I have tested the sensor at various distances, including as close as 20 cm from the Homey Pro, but the issue remains unchanged. The motion detection function does not appear to be working regardless of the distance from the Homey Pro. any ideas ?

Does the light (cat eye) lit up on the sensor? To verify the sensor itself reads motion?

yes , they light up

I have 3 motion sensors like yours and 1 was behawing just like yours.

I am at the moment migrating pice by pice from Fibaro HC2 to Homey pro 26 and all the app thing is absoluty new to me.

My solution was to exclude it, reset the sensor and then again add it as a new through the Fibaro app. The reset i found in the manual from Fibaro.

Best regards

Peter

Hi Peter, I’ve already excluded it, reset the sensor, and added it to Homey again, but still nothing. Do I actually need a Home Center (HC2) to use the Fibaro app? Also, just to double-check the reset process: do you mean holding the B-button until it turns yellow, and then pressing it once again?

Hi

No you do not need a HC2, but install the Fibaro app on Homey as you can se i have done on mine

It worked for me, but im not sure if its corect

This is all my apps installed on my Homey:

and yes to the reset by turning yellow

and include it wery close to the Homey like with in a meter away

Already did this few times but no luck , ill give another try

Unfortunately still the same , they not responsive in the app…

Hmm, do they change the values in lux and temp?
if you open the motion sensor and let the curser hang above the lux it shows you how long time ago it changed, same for temp, motion and tamper. if all are the same values it is not reponding at all

all so try and look at the Homey Developer Tools if it realy is included, you will have to login with your account

Hi Peter, the sensor is showing values, but they haven’t been updated recently. The last update appears to have been 11 hours ago.

Please see the attached screenshot from the developer portal for more details.

i think im in over my head, but i dont like all the errors you have on the communication, one with 77%.

are you sure they are z-wave and not apple home kit sensors, they are (i think)working like z-wave but with another protocol

Do we have anybody else in this fine community that can help?

Peter

Hi , 100% this is z-wave sensor previously works 100% no issue with smartthings hub …

Any ideas guys?

so nobody wants to pick up!

Hi Rafa

are you sure you reset the two sensors in the right way ?

from the Fibaro manual:

Resetting the Motion Sensor:

  1. Make sure the Sensor is powered
  2. Press and hold the B-button
  3. Wait for 4-6 seconds for the visual LED indicator to glow yellow (2nd position of the MENU)
  4. Release the B-button
  5. Click the B-button, once
  6. Successful reset will be confirmed with the visual indicator changing colour to red and fading

it must have somthing to do with the sensor or z-wave

All is standart by me:

Hi Peter, yes that’s the way i factory reset sensors , still the same issue …

Also just remove sensor from Homey and add again to Smartthings , and works from start … no idea what is problem with homey
