Even though it might be from different brands, it’s not a big deal. But that Athom/Homey supports them in their own app. Give a simple thumbs-up to bring this to Homey’s attention. This will prevent people from constantly buying devices that won’t connect, which seriously damages Homey’s image. ![]()

There are two pretty good starting points:
The AppStore: Apps | Homey
The Best Buy guides: Best Buy Guides | Homey
Constantly… imho if someone makes the failure more than two times not to check, it only damages the confidence in the responsible person in the household for the automation.
And there is already Join the Works with Homey Program | Homey
So it Exists but you probably should ast the different brands / shops why there is a
Works with Google, Alexa and Apple but no Homey logo on the box
I can’t think of other solutions to reach your goal.

Then you find out why it’s harmful to homey…
It’s incredibly annoying, and I’m now returning everything to the stores—the Aqara sensors I bought, and the hub. And now I don’t know who to trust anymore, which manufacturer?
Shelly sensors also became a problem first they worked in homey then they stopt suporting wifi…. and know i can,t find or connect them back to homey anymore…. So, what use is the Homey device to me now? Sorry…
Guess is you would have bought locally in your country the shop would have delivered the correct type of devices.
Not really a Homey issue for what I read up to now.
Can you think of other solutions to reach your goal? there was a link in the AppStore to the forum topic already.
Which shop?…
Homey’s only strength is automation, but if no sensors can be controlled anymore or going to be blocked or out of date, it’s becomming useless. Shame…![]()
I am not affiliated with any but I didn’t have the experience you had,
for The Netherlands where I think you live,
you could look at these shops listed here fore Example: Waar te koop
Okay, you can buy them here, but you can’t tell from a photo whether you have the correct device code. But then again, this shouldn’t be necessary, right? Aqara presents the sensors as if they all simply work in their HomeyApp.
Where do you see that?
Sorry I don’t see that I can buy anything/anywhere
This is a Aqara specific issue you have I think? …
Maybe mor for here: https://forum.aqara.com/
Or https://store-support.aqara.com/
or please explain how Athom can solve it, all 100s of brands and manufactures are releasing every year 100s of devices.
How should a company like Athom fix that?
Build there own sensors or use third-party sensors, but make sure the ones they offer always work. They don’t need to have them all… but the ones they have keep them maintained. Perhaps use standard drivers, like Windows does with older devices, or something similar.
That is not part of Athom’s vision afaik, it is a way to integrate all brands… looks to me a conflicting direction you ask.
Maybe you are better of with that other brand that has everything from a home automation controller, kitchen devices TVs Audio, Cars, everything… I forgot the name of the brand.
I need some sensors in Homey because I want to control devices that Aqara doesn’t have in their arsenal… that’s precisely the power of Homey… But if sensors become difficult to connect in Homey, what can you do with Homey?
If I only needed the sensors that Aqara offers or other brands, I might not have used Homey… i use there Hub… I only had used homey for the flows, if other brands don,t offer them.
Oh yeah, if you find that brand name again, could you tell me? Privately or here? Maybe I could look into it? It would have to support flows, as well as sessy and growatt.
No, it wasn’t sessy, or growat and not Homey so no Flows…
See, that’s the power of Homey, that you can control devices with flows. Most hubs simply have a simple on and off switch with your phone or something, often manually. And what’s also the power is of Homey “normally”? You can work with different sensors and manufacturers. But what would you recommend me? I have a Homey model (Early 2016) version 12.10.0. I’m looking for the following sensors that should work: 1. Lux sensor, 2. Temperature sensor, and 3. Relay switch that still work with my Homey. ![]()
Now I read somewhere that Ikea sensors are developed by Athom, but they are very difficult to obtain.
pretty sure: Not Developed by Athom.
But Where dit you read that ?
No, I thought I read that somewhere on AI? Anyway, I was doing some more research, and it turns out I can also get a cloud version of Homey. If I connect those devices from aqara to a new Homey bridge, the problem will probably remain the same as what I’m experiencing now on my Homey 2016.
The software version of Aqara on the cloud homey is the same as on my homey 2016.
You know, AI if sometimes hallucinating…
I checked two wel known AI Chats and both say something like (but much longer answer):
IKEA’s smart home sensors are developed in-house by IKEA. The company has a dedicated team, including product design developers like Stjepan Begic, who work on the IKEA Home smart range.
while Google refers to an article from 2018 … at a Tech Reporting site that tells Xiaomi was one of the partners
Collaborations : While internal teams lead development, IKEA has formed partnerships with other tech companies, such as a previous collaboration with Xiaomi to develop smart lighting products. For speakers, they have a collaboration with Sonos .

But IKEA also mentions:
TRÅDFRI has been replaced by KAJPLATS as of 1 January 2026. The TRÅDFRI driver for integrated lighting will remain available.
So best time now to change from Homey Early 2016 to a Homey Pro (2026)
I found it:
AI: Of course
— here’s the same explanation rewritten in English:
Yes — Athom B.V. is the company behind Homey.
In short:
-
Athom B.V. is a Dutch technology company -
They created and develop Homey, the smart-home hub and platform -
Everything branded as Homey (the hub, the app, the Homey App Store, and integrations like IKEA) is made and maintained by Athom
So when you see Athom B.V. listed as the developer of an app in the Homey App Store, that simply means the Homey team itself built that integration.
