I woke up to my Homey offline today. I tried pulling the power and pulling back in and that didn’t work. I used the USB recovery tool and installed the latest firmware, which was successful, but I still couldn’t connect. I factory rest Homey Pro and added it back into my account which worked but when I reinstalled my backup it went right back to giving the “failed to handshake” error. I factory reset again and installed the oldest backup I have, still getting the error.
Thanks for the reply @Sharkys. It is connected via Wi-Fi. I did reset my Wi-Fi router and it didn’t work. Homey is getting an IP and to make sure it wasn’t trying to reuse an IP already assigned, I created a static IP for it and reset it, when it restarted it grabbed the new static IP I assigned it in my router, so it is definitely connecting to Wi-Fi. I have pinged it from a computer on my network and the pings go through. I haven’t reached out to support yet. I was hoping that someone here had an idea for me to try before I reached out.
Oddly, it randomly connected for a few minutes and my ZigBee and Z-Wave networks came back online and my light switches started working again and I could control Hue through Matter, then it all stopped working and the app couldn’t connect again and my z-wave, zigbee, and matter stuff went offline again. I feel like it isn’t just a Wi-Fi connection issue because I should still be able to send local commands from a zwave light switch through the hub to another local zwave device without internet, and that isn’t working.
I just reached out to support and their turn around time is 1-2 weeks, kind of ridiculous! I also reached out to the other user having the same issue to see how/if they resolved it.
So, I have it set to off. So, it is off. When I plug it in, it is white spinning. Most times it just goes off a few times I have gotten a red flash after the white spinning stopped. If I don’t touch it, it resets itself after about 5 minutes and I get white spinning again.
That means that your Homey is crashing, actually the Docker Container of Homey. How many apps you have installed, eg. <50 or more? Have you tried to disable some apps upon start,eg. during that short duration it’s available?
I have 18 apps. So, it just came back up and is working again almost 12 hours after it stopped working. There are two apps that turned themselves off, one was a weather app the other was Zone Activity. The weather app I wasn’t really using so I uninstalled it. I do use the Zone Activity app, I wonder if I should find an alternative. Maybe these were causing the crash. I just find it odd that it came back online all by itself once I stopped playing with it for a few hours and that two apps stopped working once it came back on.
@Philip_Montgomery, I’ll definitely try that! Wehn I was doing the USB recovery I had it plugged into my computer and it was still having issues, but I was using the same USB cord, I should just switch out the whole adapter and cord.
You can try also the cable and power adapter, but beware - that adapter must supply 5.2V and some amps - don’t recall exactly, however computer USB port is not sufficient.
Also, if there would be some problem with adapter, you would see under voltage errors here - Homey Developer Tools
Eg. must be like this if all is OKay and it’s not Power supply issue :
