Hi everyone,
I’m currently evaluating the GRAU Falling Sun Trace pendant light for a dining area and would like to integrate it into a Homey Pro (2023) based setup.
Before making a purchase, I’m trying to understand whether there are real-world experiences with integrating GRAU luminaires into Homey, especially via Matter or Casambi.
Context
-
Main automation platform: Homey Pro (Matter controller)
-
User interfaces: Apple HomeKit (Siri) and Philips Hue
-
Goal: local, long-term maintainable integration (no cloud dependency)
-
The Falling Sun uses Sunset Dimming, meaning brightness and color temperature are internally coupled (brightness is the only external control parameter)
What GRAU told me
-
They have installed Matter modules for a small number of customers on request
-
However, they currently have no concrete feedback or documented experience on how well this works in practice
-
Matter and Casambi cannot be used in parallel (single control module)
-
Brightness and color temperature cannot be controlled separately anyway
My questions to the community
-
Has anyone here successfully integrated GRAU lights with Homey Pro?
-
Specifically:
-
via Matter (as a dimmable light)
-
or via Casambi (using the Casambi Controller app or a gateway)?
-
-
If using Matter:
-
Does basic dimming work reliably?
-
Any issues with pairing, stability, or state feedback?
-
-
If using Casambi:
-
How stable is the integration with Homey in daily use?
-
Any limitations worth knowing?
-
At this point I’m mainly trying to decide whether Matter is already a safe choice in practice, or whether Casambi is currently the more reliable option despite being proprietary.
Any real-world feedback would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
