Does EVE/MotionBlinds Thread curtains work with Homey Pro 2023?

I’ve found it hard to find which thread devices works properly with Homey Pro. I want to use the Homey Pro as the thread border router
I have searched the forum without any clear answers.
The device in question is this:

And a local reseller would be this:

The reason why I’m asking is because I’m getting tired of my unreliable Aqara curtain driver and I can’t find any others that don’t use wifi and has good battery life.

Thread-only devices aren’t supported.
It needs to be Matter-over-thread.

Motionblinds talks about needing an additional hub for use with Homey:

Also mentioned @ homey.app app page:

Thread-only devices aren’t supported.
It needs to be Matter-over-thread.

Thread usually implies “matter-over-thread”, so yes that is true.

The first picture seems to refer to the older MotionBlinds which did not have matter-over-thread at all (MotionBlinds, in contrast to Eve MotionBlinds).

The second picture is not relevant either, since as far as I understand you should not need apps for matter devices, they should be added generically in the Homey app.

Considering that the new MotionBlinds with matter-over-thread is documented to generically work with thread border routers without their hub (See their FAQ), I don’t see why EVE MotionBlinds shouldn’t work with Homey in theory. I’m wondering if anyone have tried it in practice.

I have to disagree on that, Johan.
For example,
EVE has/had some Thread only devices, which were mentioned @ best buy guide.
Somebody probably assumed it would work with Homey. But it doesn’t.
Homey doesn’t support Thread-only devices.
Thread and Matter-over-Thread are just not the same.

About Motionblinds, I followed their “Homey” path, nothing mentioned Matter, only the wifi hub.
I obviously looked in the wrong place, or their info is outdated.

You’re right about Matter devices not needing apps in general, but devs can decide to add custom Matter functionality per app.

Do you mean this best-buy guide?

In that case that guide actually states that it does work directly with Homey Pro without any additional bridges.

Built on Thread, this device uses Matter’s mesh communication protocol, resulting in a more robust and reliable connection. It integrates directly with Homey Pro without additional hubs or bridges.

The only mention there that is not supported is a specific “adaptive shading” feature that only works with the eve app.

The Eve rollerblinds are not identical to the curtains, but are likely similar (at least considering that the guide for those are the same as for the curtains on the MotionBlinds website).

Yes indeed it seems like their info is outdated. I got the info about it working without the bridge from their “Matter motor” FAQ in the section “Do you have the right devices and apps” which mentions that you just need “Border router with Matter and Thread from the smart home platform of your choice (more info).”.

Yes, but I wrote “… were mentioned …” . Athom adjusted the error a while ago.

Considering no clear source claiming support for Homey, I tried to find an official support contact for both Eve and MotionBlinds for consumers but I couldn’t.
However the swedish Rollodin reseller had, so I contacted them by email and they confirmed to me that it works with matter-over-thread with Homey Pro and that they will clarify that on their website.

It’s now also mentioned on rollodins website on supported hubs

Over the past two days, I have attempted to connect Eve Motionblinds directly to Homey pro 2023 without success. I have attempted to connect directly or via iOS, but I consistently receive an error message stating that integration is not possible. If anyone has had a different experience, I would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks for actually reporting something real in practice, not just documentation

I think you should start with reporting a bug to Homey, considering that they claim support in their best-buy guide.

Are you using the rollerblinds kit or some other Eve MotionBlinds product?
