Hi,
i’m looking for a way to detect if my curtains are open or closed. I don’t have any automation on the curtain (and don’t want to - not wife approved). I currently have a set of ikea parasol units stuck on the ends of the curtain, so when they are closed, they touch and get a signal. unfortunately that does not work reliably
any other ideas here in the community?
reason is I want to shut off the heating behind the curtains, when they are closed, so i dont heat for nothing there.
thanks!
Perhaps try to determine why it doesn’t work reliably. Is it because of the physical placement of the sensor? Is it because you have a bad Zigbee network?
Physical alignment of the two parts of the sensor. They both are on one side of the curtain. When closed they come close. Unfortunately that is unreliable .. the sensor itself works perfectly.
And how? I was thinking of a light curtain (as they use in an elevator)
Perhaps you can try using a different (more powerful) magnet, that’s what I often do when I need “more range”.
