Danfoss Ally - devices stop responding

I guess then you should try. Please report back here how it worked.

How did it go? I used to have Danfoss zwave TRVs with Homey and that worked mostly. With the Zigbees they include and report but get messed up after a day or two if I try to control them.

So far, good.
I havent been to my summer apartment yet, but I installed one of the TRVs at home and it seen to behave well so farā€¦

I will report further when they all are installed in the right place.

I had one that reported as a TRV0100 that worked fairly well. Then I bought more and they were TRV0103 and they failed after just a dayā€¦

Mine reported as 103

And youā€™re using a Homey 2023?

No, it is a 2019. Maybe we have something there?

Thatā€™s interesting! Could be the reason. I have a 2019 also but itā€™s not in operationā€¦ If I ever get a response from Homey support Iā€™ll let them knowā€¦ Itā€™s been over a month now and no responseā€¦

Hi.

I contacted Danfoss Customer support in DK. This is their answer (Translated):
"I have spoken to our Homey and smart setup manager. He says that this issue is known, but it is not caused by our product, and therefore there is nothing we can do about it.

He recommends that you contact Homeyā€™s provider to have them fix the error in their product"

:-/

And for general information, here is Homeys response from today:

"We have seen this issue a few times and the cause if often another service that is also trying to control the temperature of the Danfoss Ally.
Could you please check if you have any Flows set up with the Danfoss device? Just open the Homey app, head to Devices, long press on the Danfoss device, and select the Flow icon. Please open those Flows and take some screenshots for us to review.
Are you using a gateway to control your ally? Has any timer or flows been programmed on the gateway that might affect the temperature set? "

The good thing is that they are apparently looking into the issues.

A huge thread, literally over a THOUSAND views and lots of replies since 2023 and still active today, with problem around a major brand in ā€œsmartā€ ā€¦ maybe things are not as smart as we thought?

I have now installed the radiator devices and it seems to work ok (knock on wood!) so far.
I have no flows so far and I use Homey more or less like a remote control for each device.

And then this response:

"Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your reply.
As far as we know it isnā€™t possible to connect your Danfoss Ally directly with Homey. Therefor you need a gateway or something. Are you really sure that there is nothing else where your thermostats are connected to?

Looking forward hearing from you!
Best regards,
Daphne"

The struggle is real :-/

I am surprised about Homeys support.
I explained Daphne that Ally TRV is supposed to work with Homey directly, that they do not have an API for the Danfoss gateway, that they promote the product themselves, that the have written the app and that Danfoss support is blaming Homey for the communication issues.
Also I have provided Logs from the danfoss app and linked them to all the topics about the problem.
All in a good and constructive tone.

Here is the reply:
"Hi Thomasā€,
Thank you for contacting our support and reporting this issue. Our apologies for the inconvenience!
*I will forward your report to Development so they can take a look at it and try to fix it as soon as possible. I canā€™t give you any guarantees on when your issue will be found and solved, but please know that it will be placed in the right hands and will be investigated. *
For now this is all I can do for you, which is why Iā€™m closing your ticket.
I wish you a great day and a lot of fun with Homey!
Best regards,
Daphne"

The ā€œI wish you a great day and a lot of fun with Homey!ā€ is right out provoking!

So Fellow Ally/Homey Victims, please help by contacting support as the need to understand that there is a problem.

Frustrated!
Thomas

Hi Peter.

Are your system still working as intended?
Did you not loose contact to any devices?
Can you set the temperature without random results?

Curious if so, and would love to hear about your setup.

Thx.

Thomas

So far, I have installed a couple of Danfoss devices at home, but from Sunday (a week ago), I have also installed 5 devices in my summer apartment and so far it works very good, I had one device jumping to another temperature just after installation, but after setting that one correct everything has worked very good. I look like the devices is slowly ā€œlearningā€ and the temperature is getting more and more exact.

I have a HP 2019 and I have updated the FW of the Danfoss Ally devices before connecting them to Homey.
